..as you can see from my history, I took the old Mardi Gras way back in the 80's...but they DID give me credit for this; I guess you need to keep trying.....you deserve it.

We enjoyed the Concierge Lounge on our last RCI cruise, and as platinum CCL cruisers would love to see something similar offered on Carnival. Free happy hour each night with top shelf liquor, we'd take advantage of that on Carnival!

The RCI happy hour nights sounds like great fun. :D

I love Carnival but sometimes think of trying RCI. It is great how CCL is coming out with elite card for those that cruised 25+ and beginning the Milestones Rewards Program.:)

Congratulations!

YEP - regardless of Platinum/Suite/Skipper's Club (etc..) everyone still has to go through the same line to get through security... at least at the ports we have sailed from.

We usually arrive at the port around 11 AM - this typically results in a boarding time between 11:30 to noon.

this was not true in port canaveral though. at least not for us in feb '07. while not yet platinum, we had a cat 12 penthouse suite and there was a separate line outside for VIP embarkation which led to a separate scanner inside. the ground rep was standing by a separate door poutside (right next to the general boarding door), and ushered us though.

Any chance that you got there a little late (later than 11ish)? We usually arrive close to 11, prior to much of a line forming. Perhaps they set up the secondary line for VIP's when it starts backing up. Just a thought. We have sailed from there several times and never noticed a special security line.

Tom, I've seen it available at the Glory terminal, but never the one for Sensation. In September on Glory I arrived early enough that the VIP entrance doors downstairs were still locked and they had everyone enter through those doors on the far right (close to luggage check). For Glory a few weeks ago, the security scan was right inside the VIP entrance on the left. That surprised me. At the Sensation terminal, I've always gone in the main doors, been directed up the stairs, and then they did the "split" for the lounge.

Great - then I will look forward to that in April! :)

You know of course Don that we will be VERY VERY low on the Celebrity totem pole on Valentine's Day... ;)

On my 12.15 cruise there was no mention of VIP or Platinum anywhere on my docs. or luggage tags. I printed my cruise history from the Carnival site and took it with me. It never came up when I went to the VIP lounge, which I left because the line was long and their was only one person working. I reported to the steerage line...picked up my S&S card and my oar and went on board.

Sure, don't mind you asking at all. This was for Carnival Glory a few weeks ago.

In the VIP lounge, after they found my S&S card (not in that room, again) I noticed that the dining time printed on the card didn't match the requested time that was on the printed embarkation form I'd handed the port staff. Very nice lady, but her reply was simply, "Yes, you're right". It was suggested I get that adjusted at the purser's desk. Purser's desk seemed to be having issues, and said they were too busy to take care of it on Day 1, and that I should go to the dining room and speak with the MD. So off I went, and found my request fell on deaf ears. He explained that since I was cruising solo, I'd have to dine with other solo cruisers, and for the late seating that would be 8:30, and not the 8:00, as I'd requested. When I finally stood my ground and explained that Platinum was guaranteed, he said, "I do not care the color is. If you want to dine in dining room, you will seat at 8:30. Next!". <<Grammar is not me own, since I wanted to give his words verbatim. [Note: the same initial answer was given in October on Sensation, but nowhere as rude, and they did make the adjustment]

Went to the casino to register for the slot tournament. The very nice cashier couldn't find my name, and after two tries, asked me to check the sheets as well for my name. Nope, not there. She then asked, "Who else is in your cabin? We can look for their name". I explained that I was the only one in the cabin, and she immediately went, "Oh, that may be why". She quickly wrote in my name by hand on the last page, and there was no problem with me entering the slot tourney. Of course the fact I sucked beyond sucked with my points results was not her fault. [Note: coincidentally, my name wasn't on the sheet in October for Sensation]

Checked with the concierge desk on Day 2 to get my name added for the "exclusive behind the scenes tour of the galley", and was reminded there was going to be a regular one for all passengers later in the week. I thanked her for the info, but said I was still interested in the special one. She said I'd be contacted later with the arrangements. In the following days there was no contact, so I went back to check, and was advised that since there was limited interest, the only one available was the one for all passengers.

Now, on the bright side. . . the canapes and petit fours were delicious. The priority access for the onboard immigration the day of San Juan was a real time-saver. Quick access to the concierge desk was very convenient (normally I never have to visit, but his cruise required multiple trips). And priority debarkation came in quite handy this sailing.

I hope you wrote a letter to Carnival when you returned and told them how little the employees value Platinium customers.:(
