Color coded key cards

As I see it, it is a kiddie suite that has to grow to an adult to get the respect people expect. RCCL is calling their minisuites a Exclusive Balcony Stateroom. We still love AFTs with the large balcony. For $500-$1000 more for a mini isn't worth it. Princess upgrades us to one on our cruises with them as Platinum.

I think some of this color coding and escort to you room for balcony and mini suite guests is a way to ignore the fact that they are taking away concierge service from minis and to put the mimis in with the balcony room catagory. Make a negative appear positive..Let them think they are getting something special when really they are just demoting the status of the minisuites.

I AM GOING ON MY FIRST PRINCESS CRUISE NEXT YEAR AND BOOKED A CORNER AFT "JUNIOR SUITE". I asked over on the boards and was told there are "no amenities" for this cabin- just the square footage. I am a bit disappointed considering the big bucks I am paying :)

Just returned...at check in we each recieved different color keys...I thought it was tied to Latitudes so I asked...was told, its random.

To confirm this...DH deactivated his key 2x, and each time recieved a different color...and samething happened to me, and I got a different color.

I guess its random right now...

It is random right now, my friend also killed 2 of his keycards and got a different colour replacement each time.

I kinda like the different colour cards, more colours can't be a bad thing.

That's what I thought when I saw the announcement. I'll be paying attention as I booked a BA for one and AF for the transatlantic, before they took away the concierge. I expect concierge services as that's what I was promised when I booked, but, as a Latitudes member I still will have it once it's gone!! (LOL) Every Cruise is a GREAT ONE, & will be, if I can get out of this snow!

ayeamcdn, Yes I too think in the long run it is a change for the better. I would rather not have a service offered if there is not a realistic chance that it can be accomplished. ONE concierge for all the suites, villas and minisuites is a BIG task for one person. I think it is good that NCL is doing this 2.0 upgrade and fixing some apparent problems at the same time. If I have an opportunity to sail NCL again, I will probably still book this AF, if it is open. I would love to have a villa, but unless I get a really good upsell I do not see the GV in my future.lol

It is cold here also, I saw my first Tennessee snow yesterday and it is supposed to be go down to 19 tonight.

Here's what I would do if I wanted to have "special guests" identifiable by colored key cards, and at the same time not make it obvious enough to get others angry.

All mini-suites/suites/GV, (whatever group you want to signify as "special") gets a specific color. (Blue for example).

All others get random colors, except for blue. Staff all know that blue is "special" and passengers only see "randomnous"

I can say that on our cruise, Dec. 15 on the Sun, we each had different coloured key cards. And, my partner had to get his replaced once. I had to get mine replaced twice! They randomly stopped working during the cruise.

And the cards were always different colours. Saw no rhyme or reason to the colour.

I think if you were planning to go to a color coded scheme you would make the next order of card with the new colors even if you did not plan to use them for a while. In the mean time mix them up and get people talking.

Now if they use the same cards as now then having a full set from previous cruises could come in handy.
