Quinceanera Group cruise

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know the months, dates of the quinceanera celebration in San Juan? We'll be on the AOS in March/April and I'd like to know when those celebrations are so I am sure I'm not on a group quinceanera cruise.

Scorpiorose, there is a website that gives the dates and sailings of Quince cruises.....I know it is on CC somewhere, just can't seem to find it. Maybe someone else can help??

Most of these Quince cruises are usually held in the summer months. I have had the unfortunate experience of being on one of these and they take over the entire ship or at least that was our experience. No problems at all with the way that any of them acted on board, just took over all of the lounges in the evening for private parties leaving the remainder of guests no place to hang out in the early evenings.

I don't know that you could ever be completely sure that there will be no quinceanera groups onboard as not all groups would necessarily be posted on the web.

Also, the quinceanera is a celebration of a girl's 15th birthday. Therefore, even if there are organized quinceanera cruises, you could find groups at any time.

We've been on many cruises out of San Juan and some have been quince cruises. It really didn't bother us at all. We love the Hispanic culture. I am an ESL teacher. We didn't frequent the areas that many of them did, so it wasn't a problem. Our next cruise out of San Juan is on the Adventure on June 29th. That is also a quince cruise and we're not worried about it one bit.

for you that sounds great.....for me....not so much! I already have 5 young adult kids, I want to rest.....not think of anything. Plus.....I dont like it when any one group dominates any cruise - and I still maintain that the cruise line should be showing it when you buy a cruise, if the ship is domintated 2/3 by any group. A group that big will influence the way the cruise is and the "feel" of it. I really like a true mix of ppl......oh.....I am an american hispanic and am going out of San Juan to practice my spanish so that isn't the issue! Teenagers running the ship of any nationality isn't what I want to be around on my vacation! Just me, have fun on the AOS - look for my review in April!!!:p

I have to agree here. They did take up a lot of lounge space and required a lot of attention from the crew, especially on the formal night. (Navigator June 2006 by the way)

We were on the Enchantment in July 07 and there was a quince group. The only time I ever "noticed" them was the first night at dinner when they were all dressed to the nines. They really weren't a bother.

There was a very large Quince group on our July 06 Freedom cruise. We only noticed because they all wore matching t-shirts on the 1st day and then when they paraded through the dining room on formal night. They were not a bother at all....and I teach high school and did NOT want to be around a lot of adolescents on my honeymoon and I was not bothered at all. They seemed like a great group.

You are very smart to consider this...exactly what happened on mine.

I agree, this is why I too don't really want to sail right when all the schools are out for spring break, all those 15-23 yr olds.....goingn wild.....OR little kids running around everywhere. I personally wouldn't go on a disney cruise for the kid reason, my kids are older, (not much of a trade off as a parent, they are just as need and can be twice as distructive - think car wrecks  )

If I had little kids that's exactly where I'd take them for their sake and everyone elses.....I just want a cruise with a mix of people and ages....so it's not over run!

I'm trying to avoid a cruise that wouldn't be my cup of tea....it's hard because the cruise lines wont tell you when there is a huge booking on one cruise. This happened in Vegas to me....I've mentioned it before....took my 21 yrs old daughter to shop and relax in vegas.....we were in a hotel that was 2/3 porn convention....HELLLO:eek: , ah....this was a shock what we saw running around at all hours of the day and night. You get the idea I think.

There is some information here...I am pretty disappointed to see the four Liberty of the Seas cruises we were considering are listed here....:( Didn't notice anything on this site about AOS, but I have read they are a regular event on that sailing. Nothing against any particular group, but we have heard they take over the ship.

wow, that would be helpful.....anyone?

A local T/A that has really specialized in cruises in the past few years advertises the following dates on their web site right now for the AOS quince cruises: 5/31, 6/14, 6/28, 7/12, and 7/26.

Frankly, looking at the prices being offered, I'm not terribly impressed...

I was a bit relieved to see they are on LOS in June/July - and not when we go end of May!! We ran into these groups on a Disney World trip some years back (July) and it was a nightmare. They started marching in the streets interfering with the parades - they butted into the front of lines - and their parents were even worse.... at one parade, one of the mother's ran out into the parade and stole some things off a float!! The flustered Disney staff had to go chasing after her. I know their culture is different - but what I saw would in my mind be considered rude in ANY culture.

I think there has been a quince group of some fashion on every cruise I have taken - with the exception of an Alaskan Cruise on HAL. We even had one on a Christmas Cruise.

Though at first I thought they would be extremely bothersome it turned out they really weren't. I only really noticed them on embarkation day (the matching shirts!) and the day of their formal event - it was actually amusing seeing all these your girls around the ship with T's, shorts and very formal hair! I think they must single handedly support the stylists in the salon!! Oh and of course the entire wall dedicated to their photos in the photo gallery.

I wouldn't let the presence of a quince dictate what cruise you take - especially if it is a large ship you will not notice them nearly as much as you think. Cruising out of Miami or San Juan in the summer it will be really difficult to avoid them.

We ended up on one out of Miami. What a mess! The teens were constantly sitting on the stairs blocking the entire path. When asked politely if they could please move, we were told no that we needed to take the elevators because they were there first. They were also elevator moshing (waiting for the elevator doors to open, running in and slamming against people, then running back out). My husband had enough and braced himself so instead of hitting a bunch of unsuspecting people who would fall backward, the boy ran into a 6'3" man braced with his arms up. The boy was the one who fell backward that time. We also had problems on that cruise with the pre-teens knocking on the doors to the cabins and running off. We complained but were told that there simply wasn't enough security available to deal with all the problems.
