Am I Wrong?

Recently read the Carnival Liberty and Valor capers. Seems like sea days have not much to do except trivia (beside bingo and pool). Not a fan of any sea days, but what else is there to do (beside gambling). Mainly been on Princess and RCCL. They seem to have much more. PLEASE tell me I am reading these wrong. Want to try Carnival again only if I can be entertained on sea days. Thanks.

Don't know since this will be our first coming up, but personally, the more sea days the better! I am looking forward to sitting on the balcony in the warm air, reading a good book, listening to the ocean, taking a nap! But then again, I work too much! ;)

There is always stuff going on.... Different music outside, and different things to do inside if you want out of the sun for a while. I have always found lots to do on Carnival.

Then there is always eating.

And of course going back to the cabin for a rest....;);)

I'm not much of a fan of trivia, stuff like that, but I have always found plenty to do on my cruises!! Of course, I LOVE sea days! I just love reading and relaxing, people watching, etc. For ME personally, it is all about relaxing and unwinding! If you are the kind of person who craves excitement 24/7, then relaxing and reading, etc. may not be interesting to you. Good luck with what you decide!!:)

Living where I do, I'm about as landlocked as a person can get. I don't have the luxury of being able to take a cruise as frequently as I'd like either. So every time I'm at sea, the last thing I try to do is stay cooped up in a room somewhere so I can't see anything. My main shipboard activity during sea days will be running around on the ship taking in all the sights, even if it is just water. A cruise is what you make of it.:D

For me, I enjoy relaxing outside reading a book. Sometimes I just sit there and stare at the ocean, it's mesmerizing. I usually sit on an open deck, out of the direct sunlight and away from all the noise of the main pool.

I've been on port intensive cruises and they're not for me. I like having the sea days to just relax.

My girlfriend is not a 'Day at Sea' fan, but after our last cruise on the Destiny I put my foot down and insisted that we needed more sea days on any future trip.

Both trips I have done with her had only one 'Day at Sea' and both trips we missed out on a lot of things we wanted to do.

On our last trip on the Destiny, we started the only sea day with an extra long run, we did the SPA, had a few games of ping-pong, went shopping (we should had done that on the first day, we would had saved money), went to a dis-embarkation talk where they also gave out prizes for their IDOL contests and gave out some other useful info, took pictures around the ship that we did not have time to do earlier, finish off the wine the TA sent us, spent some time in the cabin doing something or the other ;), listen to some classic music and still did not have time to check out other events.

We did not have time to go dancing, we missed the shows in the theater, we did not have time for 'The Amazing Race', we did not have time for our personal 'Scrabble Match To See Who Was The Best In The World!', we did not have time to try out the hot tubs, missed the dance lessons and still did not go dancing where it was on.

Check the capers, there is lots going on.

You could learn how to make towel animals, hang out and drink Champagne at the art auction, take a dance class, go to high tea, go to the gym, watch an afternoon show (not so newlywed game) go to a shore talk, shop for a while, go enter all the raffles or just hang out & people watch:)

The sea days are what we love the most just because we love being on the water. I think there are tons of things to do. Not including the trivia, there's other types of games like amazing race, fear factor, etc., there's shopping or the art shows, there's swimming or laying out on deck with a great book, there's dance classes, different types of music events, tours like the galley tour or classes like the towel animal or crafts events. Let's not forget afternoon tea times with live classical music, the gym if you like to work out, sports areas such as basketball or golf, lessons for golf or personal fitness, minature golf, big screen movies, just enjoying the ship or taking photos of ship areas/water, demonstrations such as the ice sculpting, food, formal nights, dancing, shows, tournaments in the casino if you don't like to play you can watch if interested, the bingo you mentioned, build a bear and other events for kids.

The only way you could be bored is if you let yourself be bored! Even if you don't like hardly any of these things, most people have things they like to do to amuse themself like laying out, reading on balconies or on deck, etc.

Personally- some of the activites are a little lame. Don't get me wrong, I love Carnival...but if you've been to one shopping talk, you've been to them all. I spend my fundays in the sun, in the pool, and on the waterslide. High tea was fun, after missing it on my first 3 sailings, I got to experience it- relaxing and a good change of pace from the activities on the main deck. But besides the trivia and whatnot- there are many other things to do, tours of the galley, yoga classes, dance classes, I guess it bascially depends on what you are into. I see the fun days as more of a day to catch up on rest since the days in port seem to be pakced with excursions and shopping. It's always nice to have a funday as the last day- to relax before making the trip home.

I'm a sea day lover. Wish they had a week long cruise where you spend the whole darn trip at sea. I run around "doing things" every day. If worst comes worst I entertain myself by checking out the insides of my eyelids from a deck chair.

I love sea days. In six cruises, I've never been to bingo or played the casino, and my pool time is fairly limited. My favorites: trivia, tea time, wine tasting, and sitting on the promenade deck with a capucchino playing gin rummy with my husband.

Personally, I found sea days lacking in activities, too. With only so much of sitting in the sun and reading I was quite disappointed with the "fun" activities. However, that could be just me.

I agree! That's why one sea day is enough for me. More then 2 I go insane:eek:

If you have been on a Carnival ship a couple of times you pretty much have been there done that lol! I don't go on vacation to read and sleep.

I can do that at home.

My DH and I have said this MANY times! They have special cruises all the time like the themes and they have port intensive cruises and cruises to no where and cruises of all lengths. We'd LOVE for them to offer an all sea days cruise for a week. They could add a few more events on the ship for that cruise. I've met tons of people who do love sea days and would do an all sea days cruise in a heartbeat. I know we would! It's a corner of the market that no one really has a grip on too.

As many have said, There's plenty to do on sea days... That's my take! I LOVE sea days -- BUT, you are not a fan. It sounds like you want to be doing things and going places.

Hope your next cruise proves to have jam packed sea days and you love them!!!

I desperately want to do the Southern route, but refuse to do so with 5 back to back port days on the schedule. I'm actually kind of nervous to do the 4 port days on the Glory route I'm eyeing for 2009. Sea days aren't action-packed for us. It means doing your own thing for us, not having every minute of the day scheduled down to the minute. We get up when we want, eat when we want, lay out or catch up on sports scores in the sports bar, doing a slot tournament (even though we probably wouldn't set foot in the casino at any other time through out the week), people watching, catching one of the music groups at various parts of the ship, napping, reading, browsing the shops, taking in a spa treatment, watching the ice carving on deck, the ships with supper clubs often have wine tastings.

I haven't yet participated in a trivia show, except the Newlywed/Not So Newlywed show, in 2 cruises.

Just talked to my girlfriend about this thread, and yes she wished he had done the art auction and wanted us to enter the not so newlywed game.

The art auction is quite fun. Don't get carried away in bidding, tho'. Set a price in your mind and bid up to that price. Remember to ask if there's an extra % added to the bid and budget that in.

Have a great cruise during your sea days!!!

Our first cruise we had a lot of sea days. The second cruise we had back to back ports. My DH and I liked the one with the more sea days. But the couple we went with wanted to be doing things at all times of the day. I personally don't care for the activities too much, I could take or leave bingo. But I enjoy relaxing and laying out in the sun or reading on the balcony and going to the bars at night. To each there own. But I do agree that the activities can be kind of boring. Then again... I'm boring

I love sea days normally. Unfortunately, on our last cruise, I just didn't feel like reading and I found it hard to just lay around. It must have been something going on with us because my husband had the same problem. We found that the activities offered on sea days were very limited. I don't remember experiencing that before but usually I LOVE to read and use up my time sunning and reading. Hmm...
