You don't need passports because you don't actually stop at Willis Island or leave the ship outside of Australian waters.
NSWP Posted January 9, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2008 That is interesting Casino and duty free OK on Qld Coastal. What about the SP run from Perth to Sydney, via the top, you reckon the same concessions would apply? Where is Willis Island.? On Star Princess, Syd to Darwin in Feb 04, we were sold duty free and Customs in Darwin wanted to hit us for duty. We rebelled and got our duty free, Princess had to pay the duty for 400 odd Aussie Pax like us who were only doing the Syd - Darwin Sector, the ship was actually doing Syd to Rome. Very interesting topic. Cheers..Les

When we picked up the brochure to book our Pac Sun cruise (which we booked in Oct '04) the brochure stated that you needed a passport for these cruises. The reason I remember that is because we actually thought about doing one to save money on passports. We didn't care where we went, we just wanted to go on a ship;) and as we were a 1 income family of 5 at the time saving money was a priority. When we read you still needed passports we figured we may as well do a South Pacific one. Karen
NSWP Posted January 9, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2008 Yes Karmac..in Feb 04..we had to take our passports on with us just for the Syd-Darwin 7 nighter. This one coming up..SP Perth to Syd..19 days..we do not need passports, just photo ID. Although you guessed it, Cruise Personaliser would not complete without our passport details, so we put them in for next trip. Do not know how people doing the coastal trips with no passports will keep Cruise Personaliser happy, it will be incomplete and unable to print out boarding passes etc, even though no passports are needed for coastal, in Princess books. Cheers..Les:cool:

Karen Also posted by NSWP Yes Karmac..in Feb 04..we had to take our passports on with us just for the Syd-Darwin 7 nighter. NSWP We did a Pacific Sky Cruise (Qld Coast) late 2005. We were told we needed passports and later told we didn't, then told we did need them. As it finally turned out, we didn't need them but needed some form of photo ID. Duty free and Casino were in full swing throughout the cruise. [edit] But we were told by some people that the prices were a little higher than usual. Captive audience perhaps? No "Vila" duty free shop? ..

Yeh, that would have been around the time it changed because the next brochure we got it said you only needed photo id. Karen
