I am cruising on the Norwegian Wind next week sailing on 09/22/2004 10 day Hawaiian. Has anyone out there already been on this ship and could they tell me any good or bad things about it. I've heard there is no casino on this ship but my brocure said there is, anyone know? I am really anxious as my wife and I are celebrating her getting her bachelore degree and my 50th birthday we were really hoping it would be a good time.

There most certainly IS a casino aboard the Wind. I have been on the Wind for it's Western Caribbean runs, and it is a very nice ship.

However, the one comment I will make is that it is NOT designed with freestyle cruising in mind. There may be waits at meal times in the main dining rooms if you go at peak times, and the breakfast buffet is literally crammed into what they call the "Sports Bar" and it can be quite hectic if you wish to eat there. We usually ended up ordering breakfast room service if we had an excursion on that day. If you are not pressed for time, you can always have breakfast in the main dining areas :)

All in all it is a nice ship, but not well suited to the freestyle concept (which is probably why it is heading out to the far east and Star)
I've heard there is no casino on this ship but my brocure said there is, anyone know?
There is a casino on the ship but it can't be used in the Hawaiian waters. It's against the law. If the Wind is doing many Hawaiin cruises, the casino equipment will be offloaded.

Congratulations to your wife and happy birthday to you. There won't be a casino on your Hawaiian cruise but, never fear, after all you are in Hawaii!! Hopefully you'll have smooth sailing all the way and your cruise will be what YOU make it. ;) Happy Sails and Aloha! :) Colette

Hi Terry,
We are also going on the Wind next week and if you check the boards it seems to be a great cruise. A few negative comments but none that keep you fearful as the comments of the POA do.
No they are not allowed to have the casino because of Hawaiin rules but it does seem as though there is a lot to do onboard even on the sailing days.
You and your wife should have a great time on this cruise and congrats to both of you.:)
