Tintown Posted January 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2008 We have just booked cabin D730 (mini suit, Dolphin Deck) for two back to back cruises in August (3.5 weeks) and hope that this cabin is as nice as we think it is going to be. We know that the deck will not have any privacy from above, but we are not worried about that, but we did wonder what it would be like travelling so far back in the ship. It is the second to last cabin on the side of the ship. We hear that the thrusters can be noisy, is there anything else that we need to be aware of, or prepared for? You can feel some of the vibrations when arriving or leaving port (if the thrusters are being used). In my opinion, it is not a big deal.
bhopal21 Posted January 14, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2008 I agree with dforeigner in that it is not noisy. You will fell vibrations when docking or departing but that should be it. Some of our party was in that cabin a few months ago and they had no problems at all. Mike:)
silvercruiser Posted January 14, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2008 We'll be in D730 next fall on the TA crossing, Rome to FLL. I think that it's on the deck with the larger balconies, so part should be under roof. I'll be interested in hearing your comments.

From this photo it doesn't look like there is any cover on the rear Dolphin mini suites.
silvercruiser Posted January 17, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 17, 2008 The larger balconies are deeper than the ones on other decks and I think the part nearest the cabin are covered, the rest is out in the open.
CA Dave Posted January 18, 2008 #7 Share Posted January 18, 2008 These three photos show the Dolphin deck from different angles. Taken together I just don't see any cover over D730. Dolphin is right above the lifeboats. If you NEED partial cover, choose another deck. http://www.irishships.com/images/Photo%20Album/Cruise%20ships/Grand%20Princess.jpg http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Dgrand%2Bprincess%26toggle%3D1%26cop%3Dmss%26ei%3DUTF-8%26ni%3D20%26fr%3Dyfp-t-501%26b%3D81&w=500&h=500&imgurl=static.flickr.com%2F196%2F441808266_13a11b91f7_m.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fmarxalot%2F441808266%2F&size=147.6kB&name=441808266_13a11b91f7.jpg&p=grand+princess&type=jpeg&no=84&tt=36,835&oid=5a9cdcd65abd0194&fusr=%26lt%3B%2Fpaul%26gt%3B&tit=Grand+Princess&hurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fmarxalot%2F&ei=UTF-8&src=p http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0S020or8Y9HuyMAfxOjzbkF/SIG=127s72h4q/EXP=1200702123/**http%3A//www.flickr.com/photos/pinoy_pinay/289380316/

Cindy Posted January 18, 2008 #9 Share Posted January 18, 2008 The only covered mini-suite balconies on the Grand are on the Emerald Deck. I believe the mini-suites are the last 6 or 7 cabins on both sides of the ship.
