WWYD? Downgrade cabin? Points Question

Recommended Posts

We are currently booked on EOS 4/10 sailing in an interior on deck 7-- We will have 30K points from RCCL CC to use and this is what I was thinking...

5K to upgrade to oceanview--but then realized we spent extra money to get to deck 7--should I downgrade my cabin first (ie save money) then use the upgrade with points?????

15K to save $150 off booking

10K for $100 in OBC

does this seem like the best use of our points???

any input would really be appreciated

from our experience the placement of inside cabin does mean a lot--- the lower you are the more things you hear and feel (docking, dropping anchor, etc) so being higher does help on that end

anyone with experience with CC points that can help???

I just called to cash in 20000 points.

I am taking the on board credits(7 day cruise).

I figure it is money I will spend on board anyway for drinks, excursions, in the casino, whatever.

And you could always buy chips in the casino and then cash them in if you have any left over.

I don't have any experience with CC credits, but here's my two cents.

As you noted, location really does matter, and deck 7 has many advantages over lower decks, even if it's "just" an inside. I wouldn't consider it much of an upgrade to move to an OV cabin on a lower deck. So unless you can ungrade to a balcony (or a promenade, if EOS means Explorer and not Enchantment), I'd stick with the deck 7 inside and put the points towards another purpose, like OBC for tips, excursions, next cruise, etc.
