Demographics and the "Requested Dress Code"
Shipyard - :)

Now about this post.... You've got to try OUR schedule! At ~7:00pm you begin the 'dressing up' process (lounge in tub/shower, giggle, hair/make-up, giggle, etc.;)). Head to dinner at ~8:20pm. At ~ 10:00pm depart dining rm and head back to cabin exhausted from a long day of doing nothing productive except recharging your soul. Maybe our schedule is the key to my DH enjoying a tux - he's not in it for long!;):p

Happy cruising!

Denise
Sounds good:D

We usually dress fro dimner and come out of the cabin about 7.

On other ships I have taken off the suit after dinner (10 to 10:30) and then gone to the casino or a bar or two.

Never got into trouble before.

Indeed.

This is of course opening up an entirely new avenue for vitriol :)

While it states quite clearly that casual dining has a casual dress code I beleive they also ask that the formal dres code is adhered to on the rest of the ship to preserve the ambience for all.

In other words, if you opt for casual dining in open necked shirt, slacks and loafers, keep out of the cocktail bar and theatre.:)

So tell me.

How many folks get turned away from the casino?:D

Before this thread closes, I would like to verbalize an opinion. One of the interesting things about this thread is that it illustrates how something that seems very specific is subject to so many different interpreatations.

That is probably because a person's reaction to almost anything is influenced by their life experiences, and Celebrity has a very diverse group of passengers from many different backgrounds.

The diversity of Celebrity's passengers, in my opinion, is of one of the cruise lines greatest assets because it gives its passengers an opportunity to interact with people that they would probably never meet at home.

I respect your opinion and I'm with you on paragraphs two and three, but not so re your first paragraph. X's policy re evening dress may, indeed, be subject to many different interpretations but in reality it leaves no more room for interpretation that X's policy re smoking, chair hogging, or diapers in the pool. In fact, the evening dress policy is stated quite succinctly and leaves about as much room for interpretation as a No Parking sign.

(Do you think we're beaten this dead horse enough?)
Ever since White Tie was retired it's never been the same... wall to wall riff raff... ;)
LOL!:D Hi, Riff. I'm Raff.;):D

Ahhhhhhh. Gentlemen in morning coats at luncheon. Ladies in hats and gloves. And a ball every evening. I think I'm going to watch "My Fair Lady" tonight!

I don't know why you guys think this thread is going to shut down (seems friendly to me), but before it does.... What did we decide? Did we ever come to a conclusion? Does age have anything to do with dress code compliance?

Happy cruising!

Denise (aka Raff:D)

Puttin' on the Ritz.

"High hats, and arrow collar"

The three versions I remember.

A song and dance number performed by Fred Astaire in the 1946 film Blue Skies.

A memorable and humorous version (performed by Gene Wilder and Peter Boyle) used in Mel Brooks' 1974 film Young Frankenstein and would later be used in the 2007 musical adaptation of the same name.

A return to the hit parade with a Synthpop version by Taco Ockerse recorded in 1982, reaching #4 on the American Billboard's Pop Chart.

Sorry to go off topic...I think:D

Is there a forum I can visit on the web to discuss my decision to ignore the dress code policy at the Ritz, and find support from others to help me justify and validate that decision? Also, if the Ritz' evening dress policy is in effect after 6pm, does that mean 6pm Greenwich Mean Time or can I remain on Eastern Standard Time and dine in jeans, tee shirt and flip-flops since 6pm GMT is only 1pm EST? After all, I'm paying for this night out; shouldn't I be able to choose the time zone of my choice?
