Imagination Thread Only!

Just got off of Imagination on Friday. I expected the bowl of extras in the bathroom but only an empty bowl. Also we only had turndown service one night with a towel animal. Also one AM we had no cleanup. Don't know what the deal was but I adjusted our tips accordingly. Otherwise things were as expected from my last two Fascination cruises. Had a great time in the Casino and the slots were loose! We never ate in the dining room and lido food was average, even desserts were not up to par. When we cruised on the Fascination there were always cheesecakes and nice fancy desserts, but not on this cruise on Imagination.

ship was nice and clean and all staff were friendly and helpful. Another gripe was the one game of Bingo we played the caller went so fast it wasn't any fun at all. I have never had so much trouble keeping up. Oh well, can't let these little gripes spoil a great vacation.

Looking forward to our May cruise on Triumph

On the tipping thing... is there a new mandatory amount or something that they've set in place?

I've always been a good tipper so that's not a worry, just more of a curiosity thing.

 

They automatically will charge 40.00 to your sail and sign card up front and that is distributed to your dining servers and room steward but most people tip additionally. I learned from other posters on here that tipping your room steward a little something extra the first night pretty much will guarantee you great service so with it being my first cruise I wanted everything to be perfect so I did that and am glad I did because our steward went above and beyond for us. :D

Wow Mary I am shocked and sorry that you experienced that with your room service! I would be willing to bet there was some sort of action taken with your steward.

A couple weeks ago the lido buffet had cheesecake every day and to many other fancy desserts to remember all of them. Did you by chance get to try any of the deli sandwiches? I wanted to try a rueben but the lines were always to long..it was the most popular place to eat on lido it seems.

I beg to differ about the desserts in the Lido buffet. We did not eat any meals in the dining room either. For lunch and dinner, there were cheesecakes and other exceptional looking desserts. The double chocolate cake was the best! We were in cabin E196 and our cabin steward, Paul, was excellent. Everytime we left our cabin, he was in there fixing up. We got towel animals every night. Our cruise was wonderful! The Imagination is our favorite ship. We even did a coffee chat with Karl with a K. There were about 15 of us sitting there having a informal chat about cruise life. The staff around the ship was so friendly. Everytime we walked by someone, they said hello. We had nothing at all to complain about our cruise. We left relaxed and very happy.

Well, Maybe we just hit it at different times, but all I ever saw in desserts was either a chocolate based cake or a white based cake. I was wanting cheesecake so bad! WE were also on the empress deck but with a different steward. As I said, I have been on Carnival before and know what to expect and this time it just didn't happen. It didn't ruin my vacation, but I was a little disappointed as I expected it to be the same across the board with their ships. As far as good goes, we really enjoyed the Lido entertainment and the burgers and fries were great as always. People at the pursers deck were all smiles and very helpful. We had a great time at the Casino. This was a first for my traveling companion and she is developmentally disabled and she had a ball as everyone was so nice to her. She actually was crying on the last day and didn't want to leave! Loved the people around the ship, always very friendly. The ship was beautiful and inviting. We had a good time and I look forward to my next Carnival cruise next year!

For anyone who has sailed Imagination the past couple months... did the deck chairs on the serenity deck have cushions?? I was really disappointed to find they were not there last month especially after seeing photos on carnival and reading in their description of the serenity that they had soft cushioned chairs on serenity now since the refurb. I have been meaning to ask this since I got back. It really irked me to see them on a sister ship when we ported at Cozumel, wonder what the deal is.

I'm getting concerned. I have a12:30 flight out of FLL. I see the ship gets in at 8:00. What time has everyone been getting off the ship? What time is self-assist? I'm going to take a taxi since it should be fastest and easist way to leave.

for some reason on 9/22/08 customs was going very slow, we got off Imagination and on our shuttle close to noon, they still had 10 more zones to call of people waiting to get off the ship. I would go to the pursers desk the last night and ask to swap your luggage zone tags for one of the first zones called due to early flight.

We will be going on a family cruise, myself, Dh, & 3 DD, 11, 8, 6. We booked an inside guarantee, with the hopes of an upgrade, but I cannot find any photos of the cabin with the 2 uppers. I know it's going to be smaller but we are not in there that much.

 

We are actually going on the 12/22 4 day sailing. I am looking for the capers for camp carnival if anyone has them.

 

Also if anyone has any photos of the ship decorated at Christmas, that would be awesome.

 

We are also driving in from New England, any suggestions on hotels close by? Even better if anyone knows of any that will offer free parking for the week.

Can someone tell me what the dining room dress code is for the 3 nights? She's not sure how many dressy outfits to bring.

Elegant night (formal night) Nassau day saw men in nice shirt and pants, suits and a couple in tux, women in pant suits, cocktail dress, short or long dress. You saw every type of dress that night.. Third day casual. Some tables you would see people there all 3 days and some tables only 1 or 2 days,

Try the Mongolian grill. My husband loved it. Just watch for the hours...it is not open too long. What sailing are you on? We are on the 2/16 sailing.

We got off Imagination last month and had a fantastic time. Our first-ever cruise. We loved Waterworks, Dynasty Lounge shows, food and Camp Carnival. We are now cruise addicts thanks to Imagination and are planning our next trip with Carnival.
