commonsense2 Posted January 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2008 hi all. i'll be in sharm el skeik from 7 am until 4 pm. i do not care for either of the ship's excursions - basically beach trips. i would like recommendations on what to see and do at this port. does anyone have advice about private guides there? thanks! Tipsy252 Posted January 27, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2008 St Catherines Monastery is close to Sharm. That might be an interesting trip you may think of doing!

Rare cruisemom42 Posted January 31, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2008 Sharm's main attractions are its beaches and snorkeling/diving in the Red Sea. People travel from all around Europe and the Middle East to vacation there -- that's probably why the focus is on the beach. Other than St. Catherine's there not a lot else in the vicinity. If you were there earlier, I've heard of people doing a walk up Mt. Sinai to watch the sunrise. For more ideas, I suggest you visit Tripadvisor's Sharm el Sheikh forum and ask there.
