Smoking in cabins

Hotfire

Recommended Posts

I am a non-smoker, but I have a question about smoking in cabins.

I have read on other forums that Carnival allows smoking in the cabins. Then in the same thread I read that smoking is NOT allowed in cabins. Does anybody know for sure what carnival's policy is?

I'm not referring to Lido Deck, Dining Rooms, Hallways, Elevators, Casinos, Bars or Balconies etc... Just the staterooms (i.e. cabins).

I hope I'm not opening a can of worms, but I really would like to know.

Yes they do. And don't worry you won't smell any smoke in there from previous cruisers. My husband is an ex-smoker and he can smell smoke from a mile away and didn't smell any smoke in the cabins on the two Carnival cruises that we went on. Actually, he never even smelled smoke around the ship. He said he could get a faint smell in the casino but otherwise it didn't smell of smoke at all.

If your cabin happens to smell, just tell your cabin steward and they have some sort of spray that they use that I have read on here does a very good job of eliminating the odor.

Here's an easier solution than spraying to cover up the oder. Don't allow smoking in the cabins. It's that easy. There is no excuse for smoking unless you are inconsiderate of others. You can have the freedome to do what you want as long as it dones't infringe on ohters freedoms and smoking effects us all.

Smoking also contributes to global warming. So there.

So Dru, tell us; can you think of any other highly politcally charged comments you'd like to contribute to these cruise boards?

Perhaps you should reserve these comments for other forums...just a thought..

I do not like the smell of smoke at all. In our cabin I have never smelled smoke except once. We called the Cabin Steward and what it was was the robes in the closet. They were replaced and no more smell.

There were DIRTY robes in your closet? Ewwwwwww:eek:

Maybe he's just rying to set a record on cruisecritic for 100% negative comments.....

Really Dru......these boards are a great place to find info.. and get some things that may bother you of your chest... but your headed down a slippery slope if all your comments are just going to be forum raging....

...Don't get me wrong I sometimes enjoy peoples twisted perceptions :D , and if there weren't people like you on here this board may become nothing but useful . But you are on your way to the "nothing but hot air" club....

There are cruiselines that are nonsmoking or very limited. RCCL has gone to a nonsmoking policy for cabins. You might enjoy cruising one of those lines so the smoke doesn't bother you.........;)

I have asthma which I am on meds for. Thus one reason I book at

Marriott hotels when possible. Since they are non-smoking world wide.

But I never have had a issue smelling any smoke. I not sure how they do

it. I just wish hotels could now do the same :)

I totally agree... and I've smoked 10 years now..........I never smoke indoors......in my car.(or others ). I can totally admit that the smell to others (myself included) from someone else that is smoking or has just smokeed is disgusting.......I quit since last year... but the smell always bothered me.....from when I started till I quit....

Yes, but so far cigarettes are legal, and 90% of people live in countries where you are free to do as you choose ;)

The OP didn't say the robes were dirty, just that's where the smell was coming from. I can easily see that even if the robes were unused, that simply being in cabin where a smoker was, they would absorb odor.

I am a non smoker but have been around smokers all my life.

that being said, my concern for smoking in the cabin is a valid one.

Most people go to their cabins to sleep. I am very concerned that after a few drinks or a long busy fun time in port, drinks or not, people get very tired. But they also want that last cig before going to sleep. It scares me to think that they might fall asleep while smoking. Fire at sea is very dangerous as we saw on the Princess ship. I do wish they would not allow smoking in the cabins for this reason.

Also, Dru, as well as everyone else, can voice opinions on these boards.

If they are negative, so be it. The only board police here are our hosts .

They will determine if the poster should not be posting whatever.

Let's keep these boards friendly and a fun place to be for all of us.

We are all here because we love to cruise right ???
