no... I'm actually 44. I dont cruise, because i have a very busy work schedule, but my 14 year old daughter does a lot with her grandparents. She's pretty well behaved but can get a bit crazy like many 14 year olds so I started this thread. she reads it all, but honestly, i dont think she's very interested in knowing how to behave on a cruise. I have a 12 year old daughter who used to cruise also, but all of a sudden she developed a fear of planes, so she can't leave a port that isn't within driving distance of where we live. My daughter comes onto my account sometimes, but i dont believe she has left any rude comments, am i right?

Since I made the statement about the cigarette smoke, let me clarify more what I meant by it:

 

Sometimes the designated smoking areas are where non-smoking passengers must get by or through. For example, one area on a promenade deck had a designated smoking area with ashtrays...right next to the door that everyone goes in and out of the ship/promenade. Since many non-smokers like to enjoy the promenade and walk on it, they need to use a door to get there. So, be mindful when blowing smoke while standing out there as a passenger comes through.

 

Another example would be the jogging track on the top decks. If I am sitting there smoking a cig as I am lounging in my chair, I certainly would not blow it as a jogger is running by me.

 

The casino is full of smokers and non smokers. If I am playing craps and nobody at the table is smoking, then it would be a tad inappropriate to light up and smoke. Well, unless the table is hot and I am not going anywhere for three hours...

 

If I know the passengers in the balcony cabin next door to me are out there, I might not go out and light up as the smoke does blow into the other cabins.

 

At a sailaway, when everyone is out on deck, and everyone is crowding somewhat to see the view, be considerate if you decide to light up one.

 

This all coming from a smoker who knows that most of society considers it unacceptable these days to be one.

 

I hope this helps clarify what I meant. Wow, have not had to do that in a long time!

Please don't bring walkie-talkies and cell phones out on deck - if you want to use them in the privacy of your cabin great. However, all too many pax nowadays are talking on their w-t's or cell phones on deck, in the elevators, etc and everyone winds up a party to their conversation (whether we want to or not).

 

Try to remember that not everyone really wants to be forced (due to confined spaces) to overhear your conversations...........if you're worried about losing your significant other or kids, arrange a designated meeting place to "check in" occasionally. Just stay off the phones, w-t's please when you are in common spaces.

Sorry that you don't want to hear my w-t conversation but the whole point of them is to keep track of the person on the other end. I can understand elevators but on deck? That makes no sense. Also if you are using w-ts to catch up to one another keep in mind that everyone can hear your conversation so keep it clean and short if you can.

people get mad about saving seats in theatres? that must be hard because how else can you make sure nobody sits down next to you when your waiting for a family member or friend?

 

The idea is to arrive at the theater together. If someone in the group has to leave to go to the restroom, then it's acceptable to hold the seat, IMHO. DH and I do that all the time. We arrive early enough for a good seat but hold the seat if one of us goes to the restroom.

I am on the sun this Saturday but then you already know that...Tammy and I bought a pair to try out on this cruise so we will see how it goes.
