B2B Cruises??

I've seen people posting about booking b2b cruises and I think I understand what they are but have one question. On these b2b cruises is the second cruise's itinerary changed? What are the advantages of these cruises?? does CC give a heavy discount for the second trip?:o

No, no discount, other than you only have to pay transportation to and from the port once. For some, that makes it worth it to do two cruises at once.

There are some ships that do Eastern one week and Western the next week.

Its just a way to cruise longer than the cruise is set up for. I did it when I drove from Texas to Florida last September to make it worth while to drive 2 days each way.

We are doing our first b2b in April on the Ecstasy, of which one is a 4 day (1 port of call "Cozumel") and the other is a 5 day (2-ports "Progreso & Cozumel"). For us it will be our 8th & 9th crusie on CCL, of which we will be 1 away from platinum! We booked far enough in advance that we have the same room for both voyages!

Yes we are CRAZY!

Cheers!

We are looking into booking our first b2b on the Miracle (two 8 day cruises) Both have different ports and lots of days at sea.

Mac7 - we are trying to get the same cabin for both as well, do you know if you have to pack everything up and bring it through customs or can you leave all your belongings in the cabin; check out and check back on?

You don't have to pack if you have the same cabin for both cruises. If you have to switch cabins your cabin steward will move your stuff after you pack it up. Either way, you don't have to take it thru customs between cruises.

This will be our first b2b and from what we have been told, since we are in the same cabin that we can leave everything in the cabin. We will have to report to the pursers desk at a set time and they will escort us off the ship, thru customs and back to check in for new S&S cards and right back on the ship! Pretty CRAZY eh!

Cheers!

We are doing our first B2B on the Glory in May (eastern and western). For us, with travel to the cruise costing as much as it does (from Eastern Canada) it seems to be a wise choice. Otherwise, too high a percentage of the total vacation cost is spent on airfare. I am going on a CRUISE, NOT a plane trip!

We too have the same room booked for both weeks, and undertand the "cruise change day" to go as MAC7 (and others above) have said.

Advantages of B2B Cruising: skip

1. You take one long vacation instead of two short ones.

2. You get to see more.

3. You are more familiar with the ships layout on the 2nd half and can get around easier.

4. You can skip the muster drill on the second half. (At least on Princess)

5. You have the ship to yourself for hours. Nice to sit by the pool and relax without all the kids running around.

THE BEST REASON: You delay going back to reality: Home and work.

You will get your new S&S cards the last night of the 1st half. They will keep your S&S card from the 1st half when you disembark. So if you collect your cards you will only get one from this trip.

They didn't keep our cards when we were on the Fascination. Also, we didn't get our new S&S cards until the morning of debarkation....not the night before

We did a b-2-b on the Glory recently. We received a letter in our cabin during our first week with instructions to meet at the purser's desk at a specific time to be escorted off the ship, receive new S&S cards and go through Immigration. We changed cabins and the steward moved our luggage.

The biggest advantage to a b-2-b that we noticed is that you are so much more relaxed. If you miss a show you can always catch it next week. We did go from an Eastern to Western even changed our dining from early to late.

Happy Sailing!

2 cruises B2B =

2 lobster nights

2 Captain's cocktail parties

2 past guest parties

2 chances to see the shows etc.

2 chances to try everything on the menu

If it adds up to 14 or more days, extra $50 shareholder credit

All in all, the best way to go. :D

(Except for a B2B2B, or B2B2B2B ... :p )

I did B2B on Elation last year, and it went as Mac7 said. I got to keep my S&S card after I left the ship, and got the new one before I got back on. Then I had lots of time in the buffet (nice comfortable chair, toble, place to plug in the computer) to upload pictures on my laptop using my aircard. EM

Any booze you buy on board the first cruise will be delivered to your stateroom the last night of the first cruise................For you to enjoy the second cruise:D

My last trip not including the extra taxes/port fees was $470 pp for the cruise but $600 pp for the flight! Doing two cruises together not only makes sense if you have the money/time but the savings on the flights alone will more than pay the difference between Ocean-View vs Balcony.

That was to Toronto <> San Juan, however even Toronto <> Florida at about $200 pp is a big enough savings for room upgrades or maybe add another 2-4 night cruise to your trip.

We did a back to back 2006 December, did Western Exotic then Eastern. We never left the ship except to register again and reboard. It was great as we had the whole ship to ourselves from 9 AM to 4PM and saw how everything works re resupply and grooming of ship. We also kept same table for week two and as we already knew the crew in the dining rooms we became good friends with them. We are planning a BTB again but are waiting for the right combination of cruises to do so. You will have to search each ship and their itineries.

I'll be doing btb on Glory too, but not until September. I am sooo excited about the cruises. I did manage to get the same cabin for both cruises.
