Kidnappings of US citizens increasing in Baja - Article

I don't want to create any kind of panic here, but I wanted to post a link to this article about increasing crime in Baja (Tijuana, Ensendada, etc.) directed at US citizens. The numbers are not big considering the number of visitors to Mexico (as the article points out), but it should serve as a reminder to "be careful out there".

I read the same thing. In fact, several tour operations in Southern California have stopped their tour operations in Baja Mexico for this very reason. From what I read and understand the Mexican Government can't seem to get a grip on the situation and it is really affecting the tourism in the area. Towns that used to be full of tourists in the winter are practically empty. :(

While driving in Mexico, this person is pulled over by as many as 10 people posing as police.

The article also says that tourists are not targets.

Cruise passengers on organized tours should not be alarmed.
