There are several different prices depending on the photo...The onboard photo (you get two photos) are either 9.95 or 12.95...

The formal photos I think are 19.95 per photo...

We get coupons for photos in the coupon book for returning passengers, so I really don't remember the exact prices...

You will love the Mariner...Later, Jill:cool:

Since your DH is a repeat cruiser, and I am assuming has his crown and anchor number, there should be a coupon book in your cabin when you get on board. If there isn't, just mention it to your room steward.

We just did our 2nd cruise on RC. They has a coupon book in our cabin for various discounts. The one for "gold" passengers gave us a "free" 5x7 print of the ship with a picture purchase. I understand that those with 5+ cruises get a buy one/get one free coupon for a photo (or photos).

If you booked your cruise with your crown and anchor number, they should know you're returning guests and you should have the book in the room when you get there.

There's also a coupon for a buy 1 get one free drink, but most of the other coupons we didn't use.

Jim.

You won't be able to get one until after you join the Crown and Anchor Society, and you can't do that until after your first cruise.

how much do cruise photos cost anyway? everyone keeps saying how expensive they are. 10? 20? 30?

thanks!

I think they make most of their money off new cruisers who can't resist buying every picture. We're getting better but it's still hard to walk away from a picture of myself:)

I think it would be nice if they switched from printing them all, creating a lot of waste to a system like WDW where they swipe your Sea Pass Card and then you can go to a Kiosk to see all the pics without having to look thru 100s to find your own...and then get them in the size you want etc...maybe even sell all taken onto a CD for a reasonable price.

The savings on wasted photos could then easily translate to lower prices with print on demand easily conducted. I'd more likely buy if I could find easily the exact photos I am looking for not having to go thru all of the photos on the ship to find ours.

They won't make reprints w/o it?

Hi Jimmers. Good to talk to you again.

To answer your questions, YES, most stores will not make copies of copyrighted material or professional pictures without a release form from the original artist who took it. Here in Cincinnati, most of the stores have big signs right on the scanner machine.

However, with the release form, they will go right ahead and do it (you may get a clerk who doesn't get it, but push hard and make them understand - There is a number to call on the release if you have an issue).

Now, some stores won't follow the rules some of the time, so if you luck into this category, you may not need it. However, I have seen most stores getting more and more serious about this. There are large fines if they get caught and Kodak (and other suppliers) has been known to pull photo equipment contracts from stores that break the rules.

Since the photo lab is a huge profit center for most Pharmacies, they are not willing to risk it.

I have read on other post that they are offering electronic shopping of the photos on some ships. Haven't seen it in person, so I can't confirm, but have read it several times on CC.

Happy Cruising

On our Jan 26th sailing, although it was my 4th cruise, I bought a photo from each port, 1 formal night, a 6x8 individual of each of us, and a dining room photo. I did that because I am scrapbooking our trip. Yes we spent over $100 in photo's, but we aren't drinkers and never went to the casino, so that was my 'spending'!!!

As for ships having you go through your photo's and then printing them 'after' you choose what you want, I really doubt that they would do that. Being in the photography business myself, it is the wow factor that gets people to buy portraits. Mind you, yes looking at some other people's photo's with eyes closed and such are a 'yikes'. But non the less, it literally costs pennies to create the images. The mark up on portraits are very high and therefore the over head of producing them, doesn't cost a whole lot to print print print. So when you take a $20 photo, that takes a few pennies to make, they are still making big bucks, even if it looks like a ton of waste in those disposal bins. They are making big money, don't let them fool ya into wanting to believe that they would 'save' money by letting the passengers pre pick.

Even if 1/2 the passengers (say 1,000) buy an avg. of $30 (1 formal and 1 extra one) that's $30,000 in one week!! yikes!

And I do know that copyright releases are becoming more and more strict at those photocopy centres, and yes they can loose everything, by not producing the letters.
