rockgarden Posted September 21, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2004 Levart57 on this board mentioned the free visa. Well, thank you, I just did it today. Called United Airlines, gave them the passport number, etc., and all of it free. Our TA was charging $20, the Au.Gov was $20AUS and how much the Princess charges I do not know - perhaps it is included in the air fare they quote. Anyway, thankyou Levart - you just saved me some cash which I can now donate to the casino. Rosemary
Aussie Gal Posted September 21, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 21, 2004 About three or four years ago the Australian Government came to an agreement with the U.S. government that citizens of both countries would not have to pay for visas when visiting for a short stay, - we used to have to go to the U.S. consulate and pay $40 for a visa to go into our passport. I cannot understand why people are charging you $20 when that was abolished. Jennie
rockgarden Posted September 21, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted September 21, 2004 Jennie, you are so right. I don't know either and I don't understand why, before they go, people don't do a little research. There are plenty of people out there who can answer questions, like you, and not just on the CC boards. Otherwise, thankyou for all your help on other subjects besides this one. I have learned a lot and am so looking forward to visiting Australia and N.Z. Rosemary
Globaliser Posted September 21, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2004 I cannot understand why people are charging you $20 when that was abolished.Just service fees, I expect. Some airlines may be prepared to absorb the costs of organising the ETA when others like TAs want to cover their costs or even make a profit on the service.
