Luggage drop off in Charleston

It's getting close to our March 15th sailing of the Majesty! We will be arriving at the port by taxi and I was wondering how early you can drop off your luggage. Is it possible to drop them off and go look arround town before boarding. I've read some posts that say they don't start boarding till noon and then others that say they have been on board by 11:30. What has been your experience with luggage drop off and boarding. Thanks Brian
