Rare TLCOhio Posted February 21, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2008 There could be a nice "bonus" for our visit to St. Petersburg on Friday, August 1, 2008, plus for others in many parts of northern and central Europe on this date. You can go to http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclips...8/TSE2008.html to get more detailed information on this solar eclipse. The main part of the eclipse will be over central Russia, Greenland, Arctic, etc. But a partial eclipse will be seen in most other parts of Europe. In looking at the NASA website, it indicates that it will happen around 10 Universal Time/UT. Since the main part of Russia in the summer will be four hours ahead of GMT, that might mean it will seen there around 2 pm or 1400. THANKS! tarheel423 Posted February 22, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 22, 2008 Check out this site: http://www.eclipse.org.uk/eclipse/0312008/ At the bottom of the page you'll find a list of cities and you can click on "local circumstances" and "animation" to see how much of the eclipse you'll see and when.
