Europe: Aug. 1 Partial Solar Eclipse

There could be a nice "bonus" for our visit to St. Petersburg on Friday, August 1, 2008, plus for others in many parts of northern and central Europe on this date. You can go to

http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclips...8/TSE2008.html

to get more detailed information on this solar eclipse. The main part of the eclipse will be over central Russia, Greenland, Arctic, etc. But a partial eclipse will be seen in most other parts of Europe. In looking at the NASA website, it indicates that it will happen around 10 Universal Time/UT. Since the main part of Russia in the summer will be four hours ahead of GMT, that might mean it will seen there around 2 pm or 1400.

THANKS! Terry in Ohio

It looks like those who are high up the Norwegian coast will do best out of this one.
