could anyone tell me if the best western downtown is a ok hotel. i,m booked there in june. it is 1 mile from cruise port.

It is much less than a mile from the port. More like five or six blocks.

 

The hotel is The King Charles was branded for some reason as a Best Western but it is much nicer than Best Westerns. Bring your bathing suit and the pool overlooks Meeting Street and is a great place to people watch.

 

It is the nicest motel (not hotel) I've ever stayed in.

The are really very similar in quality and distance to port. My pick would be the Best Western over the Vendue Inn because of the pool but The Vendue Inn's rooftop bar is my favorite place in Charleston to party. Don't miss it! Gorgeous views of downtown Charleston and the harbor. Nothing downtown is taller than the church steeples so you can see everything.
