It's for our honeymoon and we want to go in the late fall. What are the advantages of getting a Penthouse Suite? VIP boarding, unless there are problems. In September, we beat the VIP's on board. A bigger cabin. NOT necessarly a balcony. Which ship are you looking at???? Glory does not have Penthouse suites. some of the others may. Most have your family suites, and regular balcony suites. very few have the penthouse suites.

It's for our honeymoon and we want to go in the late fall. What are the advantages of getting a Penthouse Suite? Penthouse suites are usually Cat 12. on Carnival ships (the Holiday and Celebration don't have penthouse suites, I think most others do). Nothing special other than priority boarding... and a bigger cabin ;)

Nothing special other than priority boarding... and a bigger cabin ;) ALL Carnival ships (including the Holiday and the Celebration) have Penthouse Suites, referred as Category 12. Depending on the class of ship, the amenities and cabin size will vary. On Spirit, Conquest, and Destiny class ships, the Penthouse Suites feature: 430 sq. ft. with an 85 sq. ft. balcony. TV with VCR/DVD player minibar jacuzzi tub in the bathroom walk-in closet bidet sitting area with a sectional sofa and two chairs VIP check in Penthouse suites on the Fantasy and Holiday class have a different layout, size, and ammenities... Sorry, I should have clarified... Carnival doesn't call the Cat 12 cabins on the Holiday and Celebration "Penthouse Suites" but they do have Cat 12... Sorry I wasn't clear :o
desperatehousewife Posted February 23, 2008 #6 Share Posted February 23, 2008 Last April my husband and I were on the Valor. We had booked a balony guarantee, and were going to renew our vows. Carnival was gracious enough to upgrade us to the Penthouse Suite!! Talk about the Ugrade Fairy comin' to visit!! I almost wet my pants! Anywoo... Yes, we did get the VIP boarding. Yes, it was totally worth having done regular boarding in the past and being a very impatient person naturally. DH and I have 2 cruises planned in the near future with our kids, April and October , but we are working on an Alaska trip. We are planning on booking the Penthouse suite again for this trip as we felt is is totally worth the cost for that special trip, alone time, etc. Kids...no... Honeymoon, anniversary, special whatever time.... absofreakinlutely!! Here are some pictures of our suite. Granite endtables, Murano Glass Lamps Jacuzzi tub/Shower Very Large-2 person More to come... desperatehousewife Posted February 23, 2008 #7 Share Posted February 23, 2008 Bidet anyone? Granite/tile that goes all the way around bathroom Double bowl vanity Better view of bathroom Stepping directly out of bathroom into mini hallway/dressing area. To the right of screen you will see the tip of the closet area that has double closets that light up when opened. The vanity area has ample drawers, a hair dryer that plugs inside the cabinets while sitting. Makeup lighting very good.
desperatehousewife Posted February 23, 2008 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2008 Closets better view of vanity...notice the granite tops.... Wood moudlings that crown the top of the cabin. Bar/tv/safe Safe is in cabinet above tv I am standing in the middle of the room. View to the right is down the hall to the bath, view to the left is to the front door. Looking more left towards front door...sorry about the mess. This is where we set up the laptop. A large caramel colored couch is to the left of the picture and goes towards the balcony. desperatehousewife Posted February 23, 2008 #9 Share Posted February 23, 2008 Sorry...we were packing! Balcony will be to the left Standing at one end of the balcony ..this is the entire length. We had an awesome time! I loved these curtains so much that I scoured fabric stores at home until I found similar fabric . It was gorgeous fabric. We felt like royalty... Any question feel free to ask!
BallFour4 Posted February 23, 2008 #10 Share Posted February 23, 2008 Fantasy class Carnival ships have two of them. They are the ones with the dark windows you can see above the ships name on the Lido deck. I toured the one on the Ecstasy when we last boarded for our Thanksgiving trip and it was nice for a ship that old. The balcony is not private and small, but the living, bedroom and bathroom are very nice. When I get to the other computer I will upload the photos. Some of the Fantasy Class ships do have the "Owners Suites"... but they also have Cat 12 Penthouse suites (I think 28 of them)... Some of the Fantasy class ships have removed the owners suites I believe (I think replaced by Camp Carnival)
kcCruiseDJ Posted February 23, 2008 #12 Share Posted February 23, 2008 I read somewhere that in Penthouse suites the room service has more selections. Anyone know this as fact? Specifically does Paradise Penthouse Suites room service have more selections than other cabins?
truecruiser Posted February 23, 2008 #13 Share Posted February 23, 2008 the cat 12 penthouse suites on the fantasy class ships are much, much bigger than all other cabins on that class of ship. it was sweet when we had one in feb '07, and is sure to be even better now if you board a ship which just came out of refurb incorporating the evolutions of fun enhancements. as part of that drydock, they re-did the cat 12s. gorgeous according to the photos. my bro is in one now, as i post this. he called from aboard in tampa b/4 setting sail. said they were very, very nice (and they were nice b/4 the refurb, but getting worn). serene56 Posted February 23, 2008 #16 Share Posted February 23, 2008 Heather- your photos are great- although I dont see us ever having to pay the price for a cat 12 cabin. (all that space inside the cabin-- why is the balcony so little??)

VentureMan_2000 Posted February 23, 2008 #19 Share Posted February 23, 2008 So... do you have to be a Super Diva to be entitled to a Penthouse Suite... or are Standard Diva's entitled too... ? :D
kcCruiseDJ Posted February 24, 2008 #20 Share Posted February 24, 2008 So... do you have to be a Super Diva to be entitled to a Penthouse Suite... or are Standard Diva's entitled too... ? :D Nope, no diva here. This will be our first vacation (without the kids) since our honeymoon, celebrating our 20th. We are going with another couple and we both got suites with their military discount. We just decided to splurge. This is my husbands and the other couples first cruise. The short drive to Long Beach is so convenient and the days the ship sails works with my job's spring break is why we picked the Paradise. Hopefully everyone likes cruisin' and then we will all plan to take the kids with us on a different Carnival ship.:)
VentureMan_2000 Posted February 24, 2008 #21 Share Posted February 24, 2008 You'll have a great time. I only asked because I know a couple of self-proclaimed Diva's... and I'm pretty sure they would insist on the Penthouse... :D
Suesan Jean Posted March 9, 2008 #22 Share Posted March 9, 2008 Any question feel free to ask! I have some questions.......:) What "category" cabin were you in....??? And, what cabin number....??? I am just trying to get a "feel" for these suites...... Thank You VERY MUCH....!!! By the way, your pictures are GREAT....!!!
popcorngal Posted March 9, 2008 #23 Share Posted March 9, 2008 Other than the bidet, sectional couch and slightly larger tub, the amenities look to be identical to a Cat. 11, at least on the Spirit class ships. The Cat. 12 would be slightly larger too as far as room size is concerned, but not worth the great price difference IMHO. They are nice though, to be sure!
