What so great about the Hump

We have an opportunity to book a hump cabin...two hump cabins right in the middle of the hump. Could someone tell me what is so great about them. Are the balconies bigger, is the cabin bigger or is it because of the conveniance.

The hump cabins are our favorites. You didn't say what ship you are on or what deck. I beleive the cabin sizes can vary from ship/deck. The reason we like the hump cabins so much is because of the location.

On the Radiance class, they are in the Centrum area near the elevators. It is such a centrally located area, it is easy to get from place A to B.

 

On the Voyager class, our hump cabin, also near the elevators, also had a view of the Promenade just outside our doors. I do believe the cabins were smaller but still perfectly fine.

 

I would book these in a minute....

I would book them just for the LOCATION. There is no guarantee that the cabin or the balcony will be larger than most. SOME of the hump cabins seem a little larger but most of us book them because of their very convenient location. Right near the elevators, and, no you won't hear them and easy to get to anywhere on the ship. We ALWAYS try to book hump cabins or very close to the hump cabins.

Depends which ship you are talking about. The main attraction of the hump staterooms are the convenient location to the mid ship stairs and elevators.

Hi,

We had a hump cabin on the RCI Mariner in 2005 and we are going on Mariner again this June and have booked a hump cabin again. I agree with what everyone else said. We just love the location and enjoy the balcony cause you can see all the way forward and back. Try it you'll like it.

we try to get the hump cabins as well- love being on deck 6 on voyager class and being able to pop down one flt of stairs to the royal promenade and then one more to get to casino or schooner bar- easy access to dining rooms, muster drill, customer relations, loyalty ambassador there on deck 6, and more- great place to be imho:D ( anytime you can easily avoid elevator use that is a good thing and a time saver....lol)

Would deck 6 on Majesty be considered hump cabins? We have an OV triple.

 

Not all the ships have a hump, Majesty does not. If you want to see what it is go to the RCCL.com website and look at the floor plans for Brilliance and you will see the hump or bump in the middle of the ship and those cabins are the hump cabins.

Now this is good to hear. My wife and myself sre on a hump on deck 6 of the Explorer in less than 3 weeks now:)

I stayed in a hump cabin on the Mariner and loved the location! I wouldn't hesitate to book a hump cabin for future cruises! :)

 

Since I've been on only one cruise, I have a question for all the seasoned cruisers... In our hump cabin, there was about two feet of space between the curtain and the balcony door. Do non-hump cabins have this gap between the door and the curtain, or is this unique to the hump cabins? This space wasn't being utilized, but I can see how useful it would be to us if we share a cabin with our girls on our next cruise (toys, laundry, etc.). THANKS!

I do think people make way too much out of the hump cabins. All you get is a pie-shaped balcony with slightly more room than the regular side balconies and a good mid-ship location.

 

They're nice, but nothing to make a big deal out of IMO.

 

Our balcony wasn't pie shaped - it was rectangular. I'm not sure if it was bigger than other balconies in the same category. :confused: As much as I loved the location and would book another in a heartbeat, I wouldn't be too disappointed if I had to book a different location. :) After all, being on a cruise is better than being at home! :D

We are going on our first cruise with RCI April 27th on the Mariner.

 

After reading all the good info on these boards we booked early and requested and got a center hump cabin #8618.

 

Now I'm just counting the days until we sail!!!!

Wow....now that's a fluke isn't it??

 

Don't worry...when we get back I will let you know exactly how "your" cabin will be and I'm betting it's going to be GREAT!!! :D
