Jeff&Liz Posted February 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 29, 2008 Hi all. We are booking our pre and post trips and Latintrip has good pricing. We've searched this forum and several people have said they were going to use Latintrip. Did anyone? Any problems? Thanks for any input on this company. dottie50 Posted March 3, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2008 We booked with latintrip.com for transportation from Santiago to our hotel and from the hotel to Valparaiso 3 days later. Also a hotel in Buenos Aires post cruise. Got an e-mail stating that on arrival at Santiago someone would be there with our name on a sign to take us to our hotel. After an 11 hour flight, we arrived and there was no one there to pick us up. We do not speak Spanish very well, so it took us awhile to get some help. Another company had apparently taken over a previous one and they did not have our name. One fellow tried to take us by cab, requesting 45 dollars. (We had already pre-paid) and said we would be reimbursed. not sure how. We declined and after about 2 hours another tour company drove us to our hotel with no charge. E-mailed the company from the hotel and never received a reply. Then we had the anxiety that no-one would be there to take us to the port (again pre-paid) so couldn't really book someone else. We found the office of the alternate company close to our hotel so we went there to try and get things worked out. Again there was a language barrier but we managed to find out that someone would be there to take us to the port. They came at 9 insted of 11, but at least they showed up. Not sure if they would have if we had not visited the office. A lot of anxiety for nothing. On a positive note when we arrived at our pre-paid hotel in Buenos Aires, they had our reservation! My recommendation would be to book directly with a tour company like ads mundo or ruta chile (actually less expensive) and save yourself some potential problems. Also e-mailed since I returned home-still no reply.

Mapu Posted March 4, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 4, 2008 Hi all. We are booking our pre and post trips and Latintrip has good pricing. We've searched this forum and several people have said they were going to use Latintrip. Did anyone? Any problems? Thanks for any input on this company. We used Alejandro from TourisChile contacto@tourischile.com for our tour and transfer from Valparaiso to Santiago; a half day city tour; and a full day from 10:30 am until 7:00pm that started at our hotel, visited two vineyards, drove into the mountains, back to San Cristobal Hill before going to the airport. We did not pre-pay for any of our tours throughout our cruise. Everyone was very reliable and professional. If you contact Alejandro please tell him that you read about him on CC and that Gail suggested that you contact him. Other contacts: Buenos Aires: ana@analuna.com Punta Arenas: Francesca_rhcp@hotmail.com Montevideo: Marta msmtaiz@hotmail.com Puerto Montt: GV Tours- gvstein@surnet.cl As I said earlier all of our tours were confirmed and did not require pre-payment. We paid in US$ after our tours. Safe travels.
