cruisequeen10 Posted March 2, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2008 How do you go about requesting a certain waiter in the dining room on the Mercury. We had a great waiter in November and would like to have him serve us again on or Alaska cruise. Do you go through your TA or thru Celebrity . Rare Lois R Posted March 2, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2008 Hi Karen, it depends on who you book with and also do you know 100% for sure that he is going to be on board for your Alaska cruise? If you booked through the cruiseline, you can request it through them. If through a TA they should put the request in for you. Then, after you board the ship go see the Maitr'd about it and let him know you put a request in for a certain waiter.
cruisepest Posted March 2, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2008 It all depends on if the waiter is still under contract on the Mercury. I would think you you would have to ask the Maitre D once you board to be seated in that waiter's section.
omeinv Posted March 2, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 2, 2008 I always make the request in advance. Even if the staff preson is no longer aboard that ship, it's good for them to have the company see the request. However, once on board, it's best to follow-up with the Maitre 'd, to make sure it actually happens. Harris Denver, CO

omeinv Posted March 10, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 10, 2008 Can you suggest which dining room is better...upper or lower on the Mercury? It's really one dining room. I've had tables on both levels, and there are things I like better about each. The upper (to me) feels less crowded, since that is where the unused second seating tables are. (We always have second seating). Otherwise, I don't know that you'd find a difference between the two. Harris

There are many tables for two (or for four, set as two). Some have very nice spots (on the 6th floor overlooking the fifth for instance), and some are horrible (tucked beneath the edge of the staircase, adjacent to service doors, etc.) Harris
