Barbados Question

I will also post this on the Barbados thread but the activity is not always as busy over there.

Has anyone ever not prearranged a tour in Barbados (snorkeling with turtles) and found a good price by stepping off the dock on the fly?

Just curious if it is a good idea to arrange a tour ahead of time with one of the many companies off the internet.

Thanks,

Seems to be a matter of personality. Some are willing to pay extra to remove as much of the uncertainty as possible ahead of time. Others are gamblers or perhaps simply incapable of planning anything ahead of time.

Thing is, the experience that others have had is not necessarily transferable to your own situation. Still, if twenty people stepped off the boat and got the tour at half price without problem, it might be worth the shot, depending on how badly you want to go and when you are apt to be in Barbados next.

I think it always works better to pre-arrange. You may want to go to the roll call and see what others on your cruise are doing. It is possible to get off the ship and find a tour company, we have done it, but we feel more comfortable when we set something up before we leave.

Don't underestimate the power of arranging a tour at the dock. I have on several occasions run into other passengers doing the same thing, and we ended up sharing a tour at a great price.

This does not always need to be pre-arranged, but you do need to do your homework and find out the options. It is a great idea to send an email to the tour company you are interested in.

We did Silvermoon 1 last week

Absolutely amazing - can't rate these guys highly enough. For $105 (think Silvermoon 2 is slightly cheaper as more people) we were on a cat with only 11 people - fabulous snorkelling including plenty of time with Sea turtles and seemed to be timed when the big groups had left. Fabulous buffet lunch, unlimited drinks = all round great
