Floatplane Adventure

Has anyone had experience with Taquan Air out of Ketchikan? We're looking to do one of their floatplane trips and would like a recommendation before we book with a private company. Thanks

Actually they are a big ship contractor and have many planes and seasonal pilots. The smaller vendors could possibily give a more personal tour and be less restricted in time. I've taken Taquan's mail runs a few times, when under a different ownership.

We just booked a Misty Fjords flight in Ketchikan with SeaWind Aviation. Since this is our first cruise to Alaska I don't know what the flight will be like - most likely fantastic. But I can certainly say their "pre-flight" customer service is great! I filled out the on-line reservation form on Sunday afternoon and they called me that evening to say that they would send me an e-mail with times, etc. The e-mail was waiting for me after work on Monday. I responded with the time I was interested in and about 3 minutes later I got another phone call. So I was able to give them credit card info for half the price to reserve. Needless to say I was impressed.

I worked for Taquan a few summers ago. Excellent operator. The mail run is a pretty cool trip.

The plane DH wants to go on is the Dehavilland Beaver....and he liked the idea of an owner/pilot. So I booked him with Island Wings. I got great service from Michelle, too. I sent an email, and she called so we could book on the phone.
