Kenai Fjords on morning of Whittier departure...

Hey all...thanks again for everything so far.

 

I'm just looking for a red flag if I'm off-base about this plan...but if I take an 8am 6-hour KFT tour (8a-2p)...I've still got plenty of time to drive up to Whittier, drop off the car, and hop onboard the Carnival Spirit, right?

 

The Spirit sails at 9p...so figure all aboard by 7 just to be safe. Google earth tells me its less than three hours between Seward and Whittier....even if I miss a tunnel opening by minutes...even if I have to stop to change a flat tire...I've got a bunch of buffer-time, right?

Seward to Whittier is about 80 miles, about an hour and half drive time. If there's no major wrecks on the highway you'll be fine. Sometimes there's bad wrecks and troopers close the roads for 3-5 hours.

Allow 2 hours for the drive. You will have no problem with making the Spirit. Head through the 5:30pm tunnel. Verify the drop off proceedure and office open times. Then just walk back to the ship. Drop off at the Harbor Store.
