Condition of Crown Princess? Dry Dock??

We are considering the Crown for a Dec sailing but have heard she is due for dry dock. This is surprising since it's such a new ship.

Can those of you who have recently been on the Crown let us know the ship's condition? What areas are planned for updates/upgrades? Will we be disappointed?

Cruise ships receive constant maintenance, even during cruises. You'll see crew out on deck painting outside areas, replacing carpeting inside, etc. When you have thousands of people coming and going daily, often with sand or dirt on their shoes, it doesn't take long for carpeting to need replacement. Wet docks are usually done for soft goods refurbishment or to do things that can't be done while passengers are onboard so they're not very frequent. Dry docks are even more infrequent because that entails taking the ship out of the water. That's done to make mechanical repairs or to do things on the underside of the ship that can't be done by divers.

They are definitely taking the Crown to dry dock 2 weeks in Dec. We were booked for the Dec 14th sailing for our wedding on board until our TA called to give us the bad news and had to rebook 42 people on the Ruby. I think the week before the 14th its going to dry dock.

We just got off a 2 week southern Caribbean cruise on the Crown and she's just beautiful. As others said, they are doing maintenance (painting, varnish, etc.) on her daily. In our opinion, she was in great shape and is beyond well maintained. We had absolutely no problem with her and wish we were back onboard.

I agree the ship is in great shape (sailed 4 times in the last year and half). However, we found that 3 sailings out of 4 our cabin had significant a/c and ventilation issues. In December, a maintenance person admitted to us he had a very long list of a/c complaints to get to. Maybe this is the issue. Just a thought ....
