back to back RCCL cruises - info needed!

Hi everyone!

It was suggested in the general cruise discussion board that I post this here for assistance, I'm hoping someone with info/experience can help with this.

My fiancee and I are going on back to back cruises on RCCL's 'Independence of the Seas' in 01/2009 (Cruise #1 is Eastern Caribbean wedding cruise w/ family and friends, and Cruise #2 is Western Caribbean for our honeymoon).

I have a few questions and am hoping people know the answers who have experience doing back to back cruises on the same ship:

1). We were able to get the same balcony stateroom for both cruises, does this mean we can just leave all our bags in the stateroom on the last day of cruise #1, or are we required to take everything off and bring it back on again for the second cruise?

2). Are we required to leave the ship at all, or can we just stay on the ship and wait for the 2nd cruise to sail (it arrives and leaves just hours apart on the same day)?

Info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

Cheers,

Derek

We have also been lucky enough to do a B2B in the same cabin, on the Jewel of the Seas and on Monarch. The B2B procedure varies by port: in Fort Lauderdale (Jewel) we gathered in the Schooner bar at about 10:00 am, after virtually all of the other cruisers had left. We were escorted off the ship, went through immigration, waited about 10 minutes and then reboarded ahead of everybody else. We had a couple of hours of having the ship to ourselves, which was awesome. We left all of our stuff in the cabin except for our passports, which we needed for immigration.

On Monarch, we also disembarked after everybody had left. I live near the port, so I went home to see my dogs and pick up some more clothes for the next leg. I left my toiletries and other items in the cabin. Those who elected to stay at the port had to wait until they started boarding for everybody to re-board, although they were the first to board. Because the first cruise took a long time to disembark completely, we didn't leave until about 10:30 and it was only about an hour to reboard. But had the ship cleared in its normal time, by 9:15 or so, it would have been a longer wait.

I hope that helped!

Yes, you just leave everything where it is.

Depends. On some ships, they give you your new SeaPass onboard, and you don't have to leave. On most, they walk you out through the terminal, as a B2B group, get your new SeaPasses, do the photo thing again, and get back on. You are always ALLOWED to leave on turnaround day if you want to. Just be back onboard 90 minutes before sailing time.
