RC card and drink prices

hi, first time cruiser here, gonna go on the serenade of the seas in april

 

had two questions actually;

 

anyone know the rough drink prices on the cruise, more specifically beer. If you know what brands they carry, that would be even better!

 

Also, I read somewhere that all purchases are made through a RC card and billed? Is that literally everything we purchase on the boat? And is it one account per room, or can we make seperate bills per card? when would we do this, do we have to arrange it before we go? does it bill directly to credit card perhaps?

When you fill out your online check-in form, there is a section where you can fill out your payment choice for each person on the reservation---so you can arrange for separate billing.

 

I've heard the drink of the day runs about 6 bucks, and sodas about 2 plus a 15% gratuity. Don't drink beer, but I'm sure someone here can help you out.

Domestic beer is about $4 or so--somewhere in that area! They carry all the major brands,(Bud, Miller, Coors, etc..) and some imports, like Guinness, St. Pauly Girl, etc...

Your seapass account is your room key. It's linked to either a credit card or a cash deposit. Just like a hotel, you "charge" everything to your room. Even if you use a credit card as the "link", you can pay your charges off in cash (if you want to!)--nothing is actually charged to the card until the end of the trip. Each person can use a different account, or it can all be on one! Your choice!

If you plan on gambling, bring lots of money! But you will need cash for tipping taxis, porters, small purchases in ports, etc... How MUCH you need depends on you and your buying habits! We bring alot more than we think we'll need--it can always go back home with us and into the bank! You can even get cash on your credit card--if you get it at the casino, it will be charged as an entertainment expense--not a "cash advance".

 

If you don't have the RCI cruise brochure, e-mail them and get it--there is a wealth of info in the booklet that a 1st timer should have!

You will love the Serenade and that Itinerary. It is by far our favorite. We are going on Serenade for a 2nd time in April 09 and cannot wait.

 

If you have a RC CC, then just link your shipboard expenses to that card on the RCI website and the previous poster said. Remember, you if you have a Royal CC, you get double points for anything you spend on the ship.

 

Beer prices are about right. i drink Miller Lite and a bucket of 6 is like $24 or so.

 

How much cash depends on what you plan to do. DH and I pretty much hit the beaches and relax. We take a cooler with us with drinks. DH will usually buy lunch at one of the beach bars. We always take about $1000 in cash with us for a week, but normally end up bringing some back. But I like to take enough not to worry I will run out.

 

Have fun. We leave for Liberty in 18 days, but the Radiance class and the Serenade is a gorgeous ship. And if it is your first time in these islands, you will quickly fall in love with them.

Also, if you do buy a bucket of beers, ask them not to open all of them! If you have any left (is that possible?:D ) you can bring them to your cabin. Just remember to pack an opener:)

We were just on Enchantment of the Seas a week ago and pops were running $1.93 which included a 15% gratuity. Check the fine print ont he receipts and you will see that they already tack on a 15% tip, then there is a tip line added in that is for additional Gratuity. Most people dont read the fine print and just tack on the the tip, so you end up actually tipping 30% or more. Doesnt seem like much but if you add that up on all of your onboard charges, it adds up.

boy am I glad I dont drink any soda anymore, just good ol beer for me lol

 

For the person who said you can bring the leftover beers from your bucket to your room, I read a post somewhere about not being allowed to drink in your room, is this true?
