missty Posted March 18, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 18, 2008 Just got a call from NCL regarding our Gem cruise on May 25th!! They offered me an upgrade from a BD Balcony on deck 8 - to a AF mini-suite on deck 11. $300.00 Total price. I feel it was a good deal. What do you think? So, what do you get with a mini suite? lol. I forgot to ask. I guess I need to go visit the NCL website!! missty
CRUZIN TOM Posted March 18, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 18, 2008 Sure go for it. Don't wait too long otherwise you will lose the cabin. Currently the only new items are better soap (maybe). but you get a very nice bathtub. A little larger room and balcony. :)
chrisbd1 Posted March 18, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 18, 2008 Deck 11 is closer to the action-pool, buffett and bar! Do you know if you are going from port side to starboard side, mid to aft or forward or visa versa?

OceanDreaming2 Posted March 18, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 18, 2008 Depending on where the mini suite is located on Deck 11 (aft), some people complain they can hear chairs from the outdoor dining. It wouldn't bother me in the slightest and I'd go for the upsell.
Ask4Jay Posted March 18, 2008 #8 Share Posted March 18, 2008 Looks like a good move, missty. Hope you'll enjoy it. We always book the BA aft cabin that we want and would not accept an upsell or even a free upgrade.

I hope we get the call, we are currently in a BB balcony on deck 9.
garycarla Posted March 19, 2008 #10 Share Posted March 19, 2008 Keep in mind that the AF is a mini-suite and does not get most of the perks that full suites get. You do get a bit more room in the cabin, but that is pretty much it. For a long list of FAQs for sailing on NCL, click here.
AuntieBarb Posted March 19, 2008 #11 Share Posted March 19, 2008 Congrats on your upsell! Keep in mind that the AF is a mini-suite and does not get most of the perks that full suites get. You do get a bit more room in the cabin, but that is pretty much it. For a long list of FAQs for sailing on NCL, click here. We've had an AF once and for 3 it was far more comfortable than a BA, because the sofa bed collapsed flat more like a full bed and didn't restrict walking area to the balcony, as in a BA. The only thing I found confined was getting to the main closet, because it opens on one side of the bed, instead of in the "hall" area of the cabin. There's more sq. ft., with a curtain to separate the sitting area from the main bed area. The bathroom is a bit bigger, with a bathtub/shower combination. 2.0 may not include ALL the perks, but it does give a bit more: Balcony and Mini Suites, all of the above plus: Bathrobes; Customized Fruit Menu; Fresh-baked cookie at turn down on last night of cruise; Escort to stateroom on embarkation day; Special color keycard; Priority Restaurant Reservation and Reception hotlines.
