Hi Frank.....If you only want to operate with cash you will have to deposit cash to start your onboard account off, there are rules in regards to daily limits etc and if your funds are running dry you will be summoned ..lol... to the purser to pay more money into your onboard account ...not sure of amounts try checking it out online at RCCL.... We registered our credit card but each time i won a substantial amount of money at the casino we headed off to the pursers desk and paid it off our account,,,,so disciplined.....lol..........cheers shiona

Geoff, my understanding of DTW is they are simply the Aussie rep. of the US companies such as RCCL and Celebrity. When we booked our first Celebrity cruise we booked through an Aussie T/A and they had to submit everything through Sydney.

Next time we simply booked directly on the Celebrity website and the Sydney branch contacted us. I like the fact that we can pay them in USD and not get hit with their exchange rates.

One thing I don't like is that even though they are supposed to be the Aussie rep for the US Comapnies whilst they are nice enough they seem to have to contact head office in the States for just about every question and that is always via email which usually takes a turnaround time of around a week.

HI Shiona, I am thinking of using the card but when you go to settle the account I will offer to pay in us dollars cash,I did that on both the P&O and Princess lines and at the pursers they accepted it.

Frank,

We have booked the 18 night leg from Perth on the 13th of March too.:) We are actually doing a B2B. We are starting out in Sydney on the 24th of Feb doing the 17 night Sydney to Perth leg.:)

Having sailed P&O and Royal Caribbean, there is not much in the way of difference. Both are casual in respects of attire and attitudes (if that is the right word?).

I found the food on Royal Caribbean (I was on the Voyager) to be of a higher standard than P&O with a choice of 6 or 7 choices at dinner for Mains, 3 or 4 for appetizer, and 4 or 5 choices for dessert.:D

I will be interested to see if they cater for our taste or our American friends taste.;)

We got a great deal we couldn't resist - $A855 each for the 10 night cruise. Cabin location isn't great though (back of the ship). Does anyone know how easy/hard it is to request a cabin change, and how much it costs? (I can ask my travel agent I know but thought others here may know?)

to ask for a cabin change you'll have to go thru your TA

Hey cinogirl

Best bit of advice i can offer is to ring them and ask them to check for you get them to quote on a couple of different cabin classes ask for mid ship as a preference....sometimes the price difference can be minimal.....by the way you got an excellent price.....come join our roll call:D.......cheers shiona

We were ecstatic with the prices we paid for our 7 nighter to Tassie in January.

The prices for this 10 nighter are now even more sensational. We also found that the price difference from entry insides to better located inside cabins was very small.

Well, I am glad I spent some time scrolling down.. I have found some great answers/tips to some of our queries regarding Rhapsody.. very hard to find on the actual RCCL board...... It is always a gamble with cabins, it so much depends on your neighbours, too.. we are going for an inside this time around, as we didn't spend much time in our outside one, we thought we would save a few hundred $ this time around, to spend on drinks etc

I wonder does anyone have the great info that was invaluable to us when we went on the Pacific Sun last year for the first time as cruise newbies..? The downloaded daily papers, the menus, the bar prices etc... it was really so handy and so far I haven't found anything like it about the Rhapsody.

Hi Eve,

I don't have a link handy for the Compass, but I bookmarked this webshot album after we booked Rhapsody.

From the Royal Caribbean site, I have had a look at a pre-buy wine list as individual bottle and packages. The price for them is steep compared to Sun Princess earlier this year. Don't know about beer, cocktails, spirits though.

Just trying to get my previous post to show.....

Didn't work....

Almost a year to the day Eve!! I'm so jealous. If I hadn't booked the 35 night cruise, we more than likely would have done that cruise, as well as one to NZ.

Waiting for 2009/2010 itineraries to come out now.....looking at doing at least two a year from now on.

Jarrod, will be very interested to hear how the 35 day one goes. That is one we would love to do, and I am sure it will be so popular it will run for quite some years.

Hard to believe that this is the same couple who had one of them saying "I don't want to go..." and now it is his idea for this one! He says he is only doing it cause it sails out on my actual birthday but I don't believe him! Visions of the buffet and dining room tempt him!

this time around in Noumea, Ouvea and the Isle of Pines we will know what to do... we will go to the museum in Noumea (and I will restock up on the frangipani soaps I bought) and on Ouvea we will get a cab directly to the bridge and hang out on the gorgeous beaches up there, rather than where 95% of the passengers hang out. On the Isle of Pines we will take another cab and do a sightseeing tour...

And no, I won't be going to a wine bar and eating dodgy cheese and drinking awful "wine"!!

Having an adults only pool sounds fabulous after the fiasco on the Sun.

I am very excited as you can tell and it IS a shame you and your mum aren't going on this one......

keep well

Eve x

Hi RKMW

Bob and Kay

How are you going? If you don't remember, we met on 2nd May cruise on PD.:)

Just saw that you are booked on Rhapsody b2b. I must say you got an excellent deal.

We are booking on 22nd November 08 on Rhapsody. I thought I got a good deal after spending a week on the net and numerous phone calls. No OBC though. It is hard to get any information from them about the ship etc. We are going for a window this time. I am scared we are going to like it and won't be able to go back to an interior cabin again.

Just waiting on the other couple we are going with to decide weather we take cabins on deck 2 or 4.

It is a shame we aren't on the same cruise because it would have been nice to catch up again. Hope you have a great time on your cruise. I am jealous, i would love to do 2 cruises together. Maybe when we are a bit older and don't have to take the kids.:D

Hi All,

Took the plunge and booked on Rhapsody 18 nighter from Perth (yay!!) to Tassie/NZ 13th March 09. We decided to go for the outside cabin which is on deck 4 Midship. It is just hubby and I this time as Hannah will be in yea 11 next year so not a good idea to have 3 weeks off school (much to her disgust!), anyway she has a school trip coming up in September this year to London and Wales!!.

The roll call on RCC seems very quiet unlike P & O!!.

Am sooooooooo excited to have another Cruise to look forward to!.

Trish:D

P.S. Catherine, was great to hear from you on Scott's forum. The above will answer your questions. Tell me all about your upcoming Cruise on Rhapsody when you can:) .
