snickersparents Posted March 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2008 We just got home on Saturday from an amazing week on the Liberty of the Seas. We so lucked out in getting the Presidential Suite. We were booked in a balcony and an inside room and a week before we left I called with some questions and half heartedly asked if any suites had opened, and low and behold she said the Presidential Suite was available. Because it was a week from sailing, the 8 person minimum did not apply, and realizing that this would be a once in lifetime opportunity, we took it. Really glad we did :D It was perfect for us. DH, DD(14),DF(14),DS(11). The Liberty of Seas is a great ship, we all had a really great time. It was kind of weird, because I hardly saw the kids, they enjoyed the teen club and adventure ocean programs so much, that I ended up hanging by the pool by myself, while my husband hung out on the enormous deck in our room. We missed out on Labadee because of the weather, we did have rough seas for a couple of days(I am still rockin'), but it was really really fun. Couple of things kind of bothered me though, why? why? why? would they put the casino and two bars that allow smoking in a pretty heavy traffic flow area? I am a smoker, but it just bothered me to have these little kids walking through this area with gambling going on and smoking. Granted, their air ventilation system must be pretty good, because there was never a cloud of smoke anywhere, but certainly you could smell it. It was strange to smoke indoors, we are from MN and we are not allowed to smoke inside any building. This was really our first cruise(we did a 3 day 18 years ago, but we were both sick with colds that we stayed in the cabin most of the time, and we did a 3 night on the Disney Wonder 2 years ago, but it was so short of time we didn't get a feel for what it is really like to cruise) So I guess we are now hooked, although once you stay in something like the PS, it will be hard to stay in something different... A quick note on St. Maarten, we took a private tour with Joyce Prince(found the recommendation here), and she was awesome. We loved her! My daughter said, "wow it is kind of like I have known her all my life" I also want to say thank you to everyone who contributes to these boards. I have learned so much from everyone, that it made our vacation extra special
ChristieNJ Posted March 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2008 Wow, you sure did luck out!!! I walked through the Presidential Suite on Liberty on the pre-inaugural....that's the closest I will ever get to the PS again, that's for sure!!!! Good for you! :D That balcony was KILLER! Glad you had a great cruise, and I'm extremely jealous!! :p
madforcruising Posted March 24, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2008 Couple of things kind of bothered me though, why? why? why? would they put the casino and two bars that allow smoking in a pretty heavy traffic flow area? The answer is pretty simple. Money !!! If you look at the deck plans of many ships i.e. entire Vision and Radiance Class the Casino and the shops are in between the Theater and the Centrum area. So the majority of people will stroll through either of these money making places on the way back and forth.;)
snickersparents Posted March 24, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted March 24, 2008 I guess that is true. I have a vague memory of our cruise on the Nordic Empress in '91 and I thought the casino had it's own area with a separate enterance. I am getting old so my memory isn't that great anymore:) maybe it was the same, but I was young and didn't have kids..so didn't notice that kind of stuff... mcgore83 Posted March 24, 2008 #6 Share Posted March 24, 2008 Question... I know the presidental suite has four bedrooms, but how many baths. Are the bathrooms private for each bedroom? Would you share the configuration of the rooms (how many beds in each). Just wondering for future reference. Thanks in advance.

snickersparents Posted March 24, 2008 Author #17 Share Posted March 24, 2008 It was very awesome. The price was kind of a lot, well really a lot... But we just took the plunge. $14,000..okay there I said it out loud. It worked great for our family. Two adults and 3 children, but I am not sure how the space would be if we were all adults and had added 3 more. There are 4 bedrooms, 4 baths(which is perfect when you are sailing with 2 teenage girls LOL) The suite is set up that on one end is a master bedroom with its own bathroom, than across the hall is a smaller bedroom with a queen bed, the bathroom for this bedroom is across the hall. There is a living room and dining room area, and then the other master bedroom with its own bathroom and across the hall from that room is the other bedroom with a queen bed, and bathroom across the hall.(each of the master bedrooms have queen beds-I think or King..in any case nice comfey beds) In the inside bedrooms, there is a fold down bed in each. We never took them down, so I don't know what they were like. There are two entrances to the suite, one to each master. With a doorbell, which became a bit of an issue..it is too tempting to those kids(or adults) that just want to play ding dong ditch:p I know my description may sound confusing, but hope it gives you an idea of the lay out. There are sliding doors to the deck in both masters and two in the living/dining room area.

ChristieNJ Posted March 24, 2008 #20 Share Posted March 24, 2008 Christie, Thanks for the pics...I already want to go back.. karena1 Posted March 24, 2008 #21 Share Posted March 24, 2008 We also got to tour the PS on the Pre-Inaugural, and same with us, closet we will every be unless we win the lottery. If you had 4 couples and the total price was $14,000, then it would not be bad, but I am guessing we will stick with our hump balconies and be perfectly happy:)
snickersparents Posted March 24, 2008 Author #22 Share Posted March 24, 2008 Is the Presidental Suite different from the Royal Family Suite? If so, what deck is it on? It is different, it is on deck 6. and it has 4 bedrooms. I don't know much about the Royal Suite.. I guess I will have to stay in that one next..:D
ChristieNJ Posted March 24, 2008 #23 Share Posted March 24, 2008 The RFS actually has a much better layout, IMHO. It's much more open and has a baby grand piano in it. Dark, but you can see the piano: My DH being a ROYAL pain in the Royal Suite: :p
