Do Mac computers work OK with ship internet?

A recent thread I checked said you needed a "PC" for the ship internet. Apples have always worked wherever we go, But I'd like to make sure.

I can't imagine why they wouldn't. In fact I'm sure they do. PC's and Macs use exactly the same technology.

They should work just fine....I think any problems are more due to user problems, than with the Mac or OS.

I've used mine fine on the wireless.

We have taken our iBook / MacBooks on all of our cruises. They work fine with the internet. The problem is their internet connection is sometimes much slower than dial up.

 

I would suggest trying a short experiment onboard your ship before buying a big block of time.

We just returned from the Mariner and we could not use our new MacBook. We are technically proficient, and we were told that the wireless network would not support a Mac. We could see the connection, but were unable to connect.

If you can't log on with Safari, use Firefox. My experience has been that I have always been able to use the Royal Caribbean Wi-Fi, but on some Royal Caribbean ships you can't log in with Safari. You have to log on and off with Firefox.
