Snorkelling Vest

I have never seen a snorkel tour which offered vests, much less demanded them.

But I have used one for a while now and like it for several reasons. It makes snorkeling more relaxing, and saves energy.

I does impede diving below the surface, but since you can empty it fairly quickly, and refill it without a problem; even this drawback is minor. I bought mine on line, basically by using google to get to a site. I don't think there is much price difference. A good vest should not cost more than $35.00-$40.00. I tried e-bay, but could not save any money, and I did not want the risk of buying from someone other than a regularly established business.

Zark427,

I share your concern on buying something I may have to trust my life to over someplace like ebay. I would recommend contcting either a local dive shop, or I have had good response from Divers Direct via Mail order. They are on the web at http://www.diversdirect.com. You could try them, as I recall seeing some snorkel vests in their last catalog.

Sorry, but I don't still have it or I'd note some of their prices.

Happy snorkeling,

Roger

Excellent website... I have intentions on taking my snorkeling to the next level, i.e. scuba, but didn't have the means prior to this trip... This website should help me out... thanks

Hi!

Well the "Stormy Seas" brand has been a proven winner with

the Mrs and me for years.

The manual oral inflate and CO2 inflate are assets and potential life savers.

Aslo good at keeping in some body warmth.

I believe they should be mandantory for "rookies" and they are

essential for well, like myself now: those disabled. I mean the CO2

vests! Great for surface snorkelers as one can adjust bouancy and that helps.

The other gear I always carry is a "space blanket" those metalic $5

survival gear items that store in a 3x4 inch case. Nothing worse than getting caught in a cool tropical squall with out protection.

Most cruise ports have dive shops that carry a good line and those going to Key West can get one just off Duval near the ships dock.
