Any questions about the Caribbean Princess??

Hi! Thanks for asking!

A few questions:

  • Did you go to the casino and if so, what did you play/recommend and were you lucky?:)
  • Anything you would recommend we don't miss either on the ship or while at port?
  • How difficult was it to get pool chairs in the morning? I have heard many differing opinions.

Thanks for your time!

Amanda

Where did you dock in St. Thomas?

How was the refrigerator? Last spring on the Mariner, it was full to the brim of mini-bar stuff for purchase and they refused to remove the items. It also was barely even cool.

Do they still have the Guitar Hero for teens?

Thanks!

We docked at Havensight.

Our fridge was quite cool.

There was guitar hero and rock band in the teen room. There was a WII tournament on the MUTS, but did not go or see it.

We were also on the CB last week and I'll answer a few of these questions.

Bananas-The fridge was cool for us too. We simply just took out all of their product and put it behind the TV. Our room steward never said anything to us. Then we stocked our own fridge!

Amanda- We didn't play in the casino so I can't help you with that. About the deck chairs, we didn't have any problems finding a chair at anytime during the day. But keep in mind, we had no desire to sit by the two children's pools. We would much rather go to the pools on the front and back of the ship. You may not be able to get a seat right by the poolside but we definitely got seats.

How was the coffee bar and did they have desserts or sandwiches there also that were complimentary? Did they offer a coffee card?

How were the adult pools?

Did you use the solarium and if so do you have the prices for that?

Here's my take on your questions:

Casino: They had a lot of variations of blackjack, three card poker, automated hold 'em and one crap table. Craps was a little choppy and really couldn't get a streak going. I probably lost a few hundred over the week so it could have been worse. Played blackjack (or variations) and probably won somewhere in the range of $150-$250 so gambling results for the week was somewhere in the range of $50 bucks, either to the good or bad. Not one of my more successful trips. The dealers weren't the most fun and outgoing (with a couple downright rude - so if you see one with noone at his table, don't go as there's a reason not to sit) so that made the gambling a lot less fun as I gamble for 1) the enjoyment and 2) to win. Obviously did neither.

Pool chairs: I was amazed at people reserving chairs at 7:30 AM while I was eating breakfast. Chairs on the lower level near the pool are pretty tough to get, as are some in the shade. We always just went to the top level and had no problems.

Fridge: Our's was OK but not cold enough for drinks etc.

What to miss/not miss: I enjoyed Sarge's comedy. Can't remember other comedian, I would choose to miss that one. A lot of people enjoyed hypnotist, to me it was pretty normal stuff - your call. We did enjou Orient Beach even though it was pretty windy. Shopping in St. Thomas is a I could do without, waaaay to many jewelry stores and prices are nothing to get excited about, if I were to do that over, I would do an excursion there.

Overall, I would put this cruise on my OK list, maybe it was me, but it seemed to me that the service was just OK, not real memorable. We felt a little rushed at dinner service and club activity was a little sparse as it seemed like this crowd was not very festive (obviously not Princess' fault). Overall, we enjoyed not just as much as I'd hoped.

Is the CB using the small plate/large plate menus now? or the older appetizer/main course menus.

How was the food? any dishes you recommend?

Thanks

Sorry for delay.

Small plate/large. Really didn't make any difference to me as I ordered what I wanted.

Food was pretty good. The escargot was good. Between the four of us, really no complaints on anything - service seemed to be a bit rushed though.

Hello,

We are going on a 10 day cruise in July, Ports of call are San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Marteen and Grand Turks. I do know you do not tender while at Turks. How about the other ports? We like shopping and relaxing on the beach and would like to know which beaches anyone would recommend. Thanks!

Only tender we were on was their private island, we went to St. Marteen and St. Thomas, no tender.

We enjoyed Orient Beach - it is clothing optional so if that's an issue, beware. We rented a chair from Charles (his cousin also rents jet skis) which was down toward the nudist resort area. Good Beach (windy when we were there) and Charles let us help ourselves to $2 beers - Chairs with a beer was $7. Cab wasn't much, easy to get to. If you want to research to form your own opinion, google Orient Beach and peruse at your convenience. In St. Thomas we (the guys) were committed to shopping - sorry - no help.
