Currency exchange at Papeete airport

We'll be arriving on a Thursday night at about 10:30pm. Is there an ATM machine at the airport to get cash?

There may be--but better still there's a currency exchange booth. They open up with a plane comes in for just this purpose.

ATM is there right next to the currency exchange booth. As you walk out of customs, facing the taxis, it is on your right in front of the cafe. I used it on arrival without a problem (b/c booth was closed).

About a month ago the rate was much better at the ATM next to the exchange--ATM's not very busy--everyone and their luggage lined up at the bank/exchange

Also, good ATM rate in Bora Bora--at the bank by the tender dock--it's outside on the bank that will be on your right as you leave the tender dock

You can buy Francs from American Express or Travelex in Australia before you go. Much less hassle, there'll be a line a mile long at the airport.

My experience: its a breeze at the airport ATM. No line, no one in back of me. Open 24 hours - quick and painless, English instructions, XPF cash out of the ATM and in my pocket in less than one minute.
