How bad are the mosquitoes?

Our ship will be stopping in OSJ next month during the evening. Just got to thinking....since OSJ is hot & humid and near the water, I'm afraid there will be a lot of mosquitoes biting me. That's something else I'll have to pack.

My wife and I never saw a single mosquito or any other biting insect for that matter while we were there in late-March and trust me my wife is a magnet for biting bugs -- they find her to be quite tasty :) ;) . . . can't tell you if the bugs come out at any other time of the year.

Does anyone know if there are mosquitos in July/August time?

I am also a magnet for them. My husband says his best insect repellent is me! :)

We have been in San Juan in February, August, and September and have never come across a mosquito.

I'm really surprised with all the heat and water. I get chewed alive in the summer here.
