boarding of ship from New York Redhook

We are going on princess cruise on July 10, 08. Ship leaves port at 5 pm. What is the earliest or latest we can board? What times are usually the quickest to get on ship without the long lines?

You can start boarding at 12 noon. You should all be on board by 4pm for a 5 pm departure. At any time, it should take about 15 minutes or less to get on board. Best time is between 1&2pm. Done the Red Hook departure twice and had absolutely no problems.

If you want to avoid lines arrive at around 1:00 or 1:30. You can pretty well be assured the prior cruise should be all disembarked and the lines for those that have to be first on the ship will be gone by then.

 

It is a great pier to leave from, especially if you drive your own car - plenty of parking right next to the ship.

We arrive around 10:30-11. Like to board at noon. :)

Last year we were waiting in the waiting area for past guests and they opened the doors about 11:45 or so. We were onboard before 12. We had no lines whatsoever. There looks like there will be a backup of cars, but the line moves very quickly as there are multiple lanes to get through.

As for how late, I believe they now want everyone onboard by 3:30.

Last summer off Crown in Red Hook, disembarking was very easy and I recently heard that it got easier...You can definitely have breakfast... you should know what time you will be getting off the night before, so you can enjoy breakfast....
