Dress code...where is it printed or....

where is the post which explains the dress code? I have searched both this site and the Celebrity site without success.

Another question...do the suits now have DVD players? The site says CD and VCR, but John called Celebrity today and was told there is a DVD player in the Zenith suits. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks for your help. The weekend's comin'....yippee!!

The dress code is in the brochures and in your documents. The Penthouse, Celebrity Suites and Royal Suites have DVD players, but not the Sky Suites.

Hi Cindy! We will be on the same cruise. Just checked our brochure and for 11 nights it lists 3 formal, 3 informal and 5 casual nights. We were wondering the same thing. See you then!

The dress code is on the Celebrity website as mentioned above, it is in your documents, it will show up in the daily in your stateroom and they list that particular evenings dress code each day (I am also sure that a few people on the board will be happily give you information on the dress code).

 

On our recent 10 day Horizon cruise however they added a new one... the dress for the last sea day was listed as "casual informal" and the definition was jacket but no tie.

So glad that "lowcounrtyfirefighter" couldn't find the dress code either either....it's not in the docs, in the brochure, or on the website anymore. I thought I was losing it. I know it used to be! Maybe they are changing some of the dress codes and that's why it's not mentioned. "Casual informal" is a new one!! We have cruised Celebrity several times and have not seen it before. I've tried searching the other threads....but they are so ^&*((&@#-up that it doesn't work either. We will not dress in jeans and NASCAR t-shirts, not even on the first night. HAha! ;-))

Guests will need three types of clothing on their Celebrity cruise: casual shipboard attire or day wear, conservative port wear and evening wear.

 

Day wear includes slacks or pants, blouses or shirts, knit tops or polo shirts. Guests should bring a pair of sneakers or rubber-soled shoes for deck sports and a swimsuit cover-up for cool areas on the ship.

 

Port wear for women includes a casual dress, skirt and blouse, or pants outfit; for men, casual pants or walking shorts (for warmer days) and polo-type shirts. Comfortable walking shoes are a must.

 

On cruises to Alaska or Northern Europe, nights on deck can be cool, so bring sweaters, jackets and lightweight windbreakers. We recommend bringing a raincoat, hiking shoes and a travel umbrella.

 

It is always wise to dress conservatively when visiting the museums and cathedrals of Europe (i.e., a dress that covers the knees or long pants; sleeveless tops and shorts are not allowed). Bermuda is also conservative, so guests should reserve swimsuits, tank tops, etc., for the beach. For more guidance, please advise your clients to attend the port lectures on board.

 

For Bermuda, Caribbean, Europe (Mediterranean), Hawaii, South America and Trans-canal cruises, remind clients to bring extra bathing suits, as well as sunblock, sun visors and other types of sun protection.

 

Clothing recommendation for those guests traveling on a cruisetour is very similar. Dinnerwear while on the land portion of cruisetours requires business casual dress. Shorts and tennis shoes are frowned upon in most restaurants in Europe.

 

Evening wear should be planned for according to the following evening dress schedule:

The piece that I am searching for states something like Formal Men: tuxedo, white dinner jacket or dark suit....etc. Formal Ladies: evening gowns,....etc. It was much more specific. But, smeyer, thanks for your help. Here's to a great weekend....cheers!

A gentleman's choice for casual nights includes a sport shirt and slacks, while women will be comfortable in a pants suit, skirt and blouse, or casual dress.

For the formal nights, including the Captain's Welcome Aboard Cocktail Party, dinner on the second night, and the Captain's Farewell Dinner held the next-to-last night of the cruise; both men and women may prefer more dressy attire, such as an evening gown for women and a tuxedo or dress suit for men.

 

Celebrity Cruises has implemented a casual dining service on its five ships. Casual dining is offered most nights on every cruise, depending upon the itinerary, and is served in the Palm Springs Grill and pool area on the Mercury and at the Oasis Grill and pool area on the Galaxy. On the Horizon casual dining is offered in the Coral Seas Cafe and on the Zenith, in the Windsurf Cafe. On the Century casual dining is available in the Sky Bar.

I'm probably making a mistake posting this but I have switched to cocktail dresses for formal nights. We never change after dinner and the beaded formal gowns are just too uncomfortable for the casino or whatever we decide to do after dinner. I have actually tried to find long gowns that would be more comfortable, but no luck so far in finding anything attractive or that fits in the bustline. I take great care in the makeup, hair, and the rest and don't feel as if I'm an embarressment.

Hi..Brigitte...you see plenty of cocktail dresses for formal nights! On my first Century cruise I wore a red knee length cocktail dress on the first formal night...thought I looked fine....the 2nd formal night I wore a black silk pants suit....also thought it looked right in step with the other ladies.

I don't mean to sound condescending to anyone...but I really think alot of the dress code is common sense.

 

Next up...HORIZON Sept 18th to Bermuda!

I have read before that it is suggested that you stick to the dress code for the entire evening in all public areas. But my question is this: what if you opt for the alternative, casual dining on formal night (the Oasis cafe)? Does this mean that afterwards you cannot go to the show in the theater or to the casino unless you go back to your room and put on some formal clothes? On our last cruise on Royal Caribbean we would change out of our clothes on formal night (after our main seating dinner) to something more comfortable before we went to see the show in the theater. We saw all kinds of dress, even on formal nights. I realize that Celebrity has different rules than Royal Caribbean but I wonder how much they enforce this or if we would get a lot of disapproving looks for showing up in the theater after dinner in more casual clothes? My husband will wear a tux to dinner on formal nights but he gets so hot that he doesn't like to wear it for very long.
