rcclcruise Posted April 30, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2008 We just received a letter from RCL stating that Grandeur OTS has a minor malfunction with one of it's diesel electric generators. The letter stated that cruising speed will be reduced to 20 knots and port times will be slightly adjusted. No big deal to us as my wife an I just love being on a cruise. I would like to hear (from anyone recently on Gradeur) if there were any other issues noticed while on board. Not that we would change anything because we love to cruise! Did I mention we love to cruise?:D
Sea and Me Posted April 30, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 30, 2008 There is a thread on here that posts the problem Grandeur had last week. If you scan these threads you are sure to find it. The Grandeur is one of our favorites too. Enjoy your cruise.
reallyitsmema Posted April 30, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 30, 2008 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=763321 This explains what happened last week. Most were able to take it in stride and enjoy their cruise. Hope you have a great cruise.:)
trphil Posted April 30, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 30, 2008 We were affected by this last week. It certainly didn't ruin our cruise, but made life much more difficult getting home, since we missed our flight by getting into Baltimore late and no other flights were available until Tuesday. this is the same problem they had last week and tried to fix twice. rcclcruise Posted April 30, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted April 30, 2008 Thanks to all who responded. I now understand the problem and realize things that are mechanical break sometimes. I feel for all that were inconvenienced by this unfortunate problem. But look at the bright side. You've been on a ship with a minor engine problem. What are the odds it will happen on your next cruise? I think very low. Call them TAs. Happy Future Cruising!!! :D
Arizona Cruz Chic Posted April 30, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 30, 2008 Great attitude!!! :) Because you feel your not effected by this adjustment, your cruise should be wonderful! I wish more people had this "go with the flow" attitude and enjoy being on the ship. ;) ***
GeorgiaPeach Posted April 30, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 30, 2008 My husband and I are on the June 7th sailing and as long as we are able to cruise, we're happy! I did notice an adjustment in the port times and assumed it was due to the problems mentioned in the previous thread.

jerin Posted April 30, 2008 #9 Share Posted April 30, 2008 I've seen notices in changes of port times for Bermuda -- has anyone seen anything about changes in the Canada/New England itinerary or port times yet? Or are they hoping to have things completely fixed by then? We're just happy to be on the ship, but it's always nice to scope out our options in advance when possible if things have to change.
