Buddy L Posted October 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2004 OK, previously asked a question about currency in the Caribbean and it seems I can use US Dollars in most places but, The Bahamas has its own currency. As we are spending our second week on the Bahamas (Atlantis) should I order Bahamian Dollars through my TA or can I still use US Dollars? Do people take along enough cash for two weeks or do you just use ATM's when necessary?
GSDsky Posted October 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2004 Having spent 2 weeks @ Atlantis they will accept both but much easier to us US dollars. Being CDN it hurts even more. Take travellers cheques...
critterchick Posted October 6, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2004 Just get some walk around money from an ATM as soon as you arrive. That will minimize the conversion fees /commissions you have to pay.
imsulin Posted October 6, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 6, 2004 If you use an ATM, you will get Bahamian dollars. Best to bring a lot of small US denominations with you. They'd much rather have the U dollars, anyway.
