What is princess using right now for exchange rate for us Canadians? I usually bring US money and pay the account that way but being I am only going for 3 days I was thinking of just leaving it all on my credit card?

I purchased future cruise credits last week and while I requested US $'s, they were issued in CDN at $115.00. (Had the error corrected) but take it that the conversion was 15%, ouch!!!! Why not call Princess and hopefully you get the correct answer.

If you use your credit card, you can check off a box that tells Princess to

put the charges through in US dollars and not convert it themselves. You will

get a much better rate by letting you credit card company do the conversion.

There are several threads on this. The main thing is to make sure your choice

is highlighted and brought to the attention of the check-in agent. It is also

a good idea to check with the purser's desk during the cruise to confirm that

this has bbeen done.

It's also not a bad idea to check what rate Princess is charging - sometimes you might be surprised and find Princess charging at par when the rate is close to par. In those cases, it can be more beneficial to have Princess charge in CDN$ and not pay the 3% your credit card company will add on when doing the exchange.

I know in the current 0.99 - 1.01 environment, Princess is offering a number of bookings at par. My two trips to Alaska later this month were purchased at par, even though the CDN$ was below the US$ at the time. Not only did I save on the exchange, but I didn't have to pay the 3% fee.
