Putterdude Posted May 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2008 For the benefit of our American cousins who may be coming to Vancouver this weekend, May 17-19, this is a holiday weekend here in Canada, the Victoria Day Weekend or the "Queens Birthday". So expect extra traffic at border crossings and at ferry terminals. With good weather perdicted for the weekend you can expect a lot of people will be playing hooky on the Friday to get a head-start on the weekend. However, if you're coming up from the USA, this is a good weekend as you'll be travelling AGAINST most of the traffic. Next weekend, the US Memorial Day weekend, will be bad at the borders coming north.

Next weekend, the US Memorial Day weekend, will be bad at the borders coming north. I agree to a point, however in the afternoons all bets are off as the cross border shoppers return home and plug up the north bound lanes. Then on Monday it will be a zoo northbound almost all day and into the evening. For the Memorial Day weekend it will be fine southbound in the mornings but will worsen in the afternoons. Then on the Monday it will be the same zoo south bound. So plan to do your border crossings early on both weekends.
Langley Cruisers Posted May 19, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 19, 2008 As of Monday May 19, the Peace Arch border crossing is down to 4 lanes from 8, coming North. Traffic is expected to be a nightmare - sorry. :(
