Bartering?

Hi, all. I've heard of bartering in Jamaica, but am wondering if this extends to the stores in the shopping areas of Ocho Rios? Or do you only barter with locals for their wares?

A good way to test the waters is to ask " Is that your best price?" while it is not bartering some sales clerks do have the authority to give a 10 to 15% discount. Sure does not hurt to ask.

Oh, I didn't know you could do that. My daughter tells me that you can do that here in the states, as well! Ask if there are any discounts. I would never have thought that. Thanks!
