Which side of the ship should we book for the best views from a balcony cabin?...starboard side, or port side?

To Alaska, round trip from Vancouver on Serenade of the Seas in September.

Itinerary

Vancouver

Inside Passage (cruising)

Icy Strait Point

Hubbard Glacier (cruising)

Skagway

Juneau

Cruising

Vancouver

Thanks in advance for your help.

We've been on the Serenade and are booked on her again later this year. We sailed her sister Radiance to Alaska. We have also sailed to Alaska on the Celebrity Summit and had a starboard cabin, and believe me there was no comparison. Aft is best. The best balcony cabins for Hubbard Glacier and the Inside Passage are actually aft cabins, particularly on decks 9 or 10.

If you have a port or starboard cabin you will want to be out on the pool deck or in the lounge on 13 or even in the fitness center on 12 to capture the glacier.

We were in a friends port cabin for part of the passage and could not believe how much better we could see whales and shore side birds and animals cruising through the coastal areas and islands from our aft cabin.

Unless you can snag an aft any balcony will do. The higher deck the better.

Have a wonderful cruise.
