glgolfer Posted May 20, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2008 We've booked a B&B for 3 nights in early July. If anyone has suggestions for restaurants for 3 nights, it would be greatly appreciated. We've been there 3 or 4 times on ships, once overnight. We've taken the conch train and walked around Duvall Street. We'll have time to do the museums and watch the sunset. Any other suggestions for other things to do would also be appreciated.
bhopal21 Posted May 20, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 20, 2008 Give us some ideas of your food likes and dislikes as there is a wide variety of cuisine available in Key West and you could easily get 50 or more suggestions. Mike:)
glgolfer Posted May 20, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted May 20, 2008 We pretty much like any cuisine. We're looking more for quality than quantity. Good steaks, cuban, spanish, oriental (all varieties), italian (north/south), french, jamacian jerk, anything edible. Like I said - quality. Kevin's girl Posted May 20, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 20, 2008 What B&B are you staying at? Fogarty's is one of our favotite places to eat, lunch or dinner. Crabby Dick's is also good for an early dinner. Kelly's is also very nice, a little pricey but very nice.
Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted May 21, 2008 #6 Share Posted May 21, 2008 More ideas. Lunch: Duffy's, Louis' Backyard, Latitudes Beach Cafe at Sunset Key (you will need to take a free boat over to Sunset Key) Dinner: Italian higher end--La Trattoria on Duval and Antonia's on Duval Italian, cheaper--Mangia, Mangia Eclectic; Louis' Backyard Latitudes Beach Cafe at Sunset Key ( You will need to take a free boat ride.) Breakfast: Sarabeth's Other idea: Stop at a grocery store and make a picnic lunch to take to Fort Zachary Taylor State Park and eat out there. The park has picnic tables and little grills. It also has a snack shop.

bhopal21 Posted May 25, 2008 #10 Share Posted May 25, 2008 Please try http://www.aliceskeywest.com/ and go through http://keywestmenu.com/ By all means. I am embarrassed that I left Alice's off my short list. Her Ceviche Martini is the best, not loaded with fillers like other places.:D Mike:)

cogitosum Posted June 5, 2008 #15 Share Posted June 5, 2008 As a part time Conch Republic resident, I can recommend lots of places places, but for seafood try Seven Fish (upscale), A & B Lobster House (especially the raw bar), and for great basic seafood like shrimp and stone crab claws, try the Half Shell Raw Bar. Pepe's is good also, including breakfast.
bhopal21 Posted June 5, 2008 #16 Share Posted June 5, 2008 The drawbacks to Seven Fish are small portions, extremely cramped dining (too many tables) and no liquor license, only beer and wine; but the food gets good reviews. Mike:)
peter_krynicki Posted June 5, 2008 #17 Share Posted June 5, 2008 Since it has just re-opened after fire damage, brunch at the Rooftop Cafe on Front Street. Pjk

cot427 Posted June 7, 2008 #19 Share Posted June 7, 2008 I just read through this thread, and there are a lot of recommendations. We are only going to be there for the day, we are driving down from Key Largo. What is one restaurant that we cannot miss when eating lunch in Key West? We were there about 3 years ago, and there was this one restaurant, (I forget the name of it), but it was either on the corner of, or really close to Duval street (not much info) and it was horrible, both the food and service. So this time we really want a great restaurant for lunch. Thanks!
glgolfer Posted July 7, 2008 Author #20 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Drove down yesterday, easy drive. Staying at the Conch House at 645 Truman. Nice place and room. Ate at Cafe Sole last night. Had the conch carpaccio appetizer. Judy had the scallop specila of the day (large scallops) and I had the award winning hog snapper. Creme Brulee for desert. Everything was excellent. Renting a scooter car for today and tomorrow. Back won't let me fide a bke and all the trikes are rented. If you want a trike when you're here, call to rent it before you get here. bhopal21 Posted July 8, 2008 #22 Share Posted July 8, 2008 Anyone have any SUSHI rec's? We LOVE Sushi! Ambrosia, now located on Simonton Street. Mike:)
KandMGIn Posted July 8, 2008 #23 Share Posted July 8, 2008 Is that really expensive and is it kid friendly? Here (chicago burbs), we have some really nice places, but also some sushi counter type places with plates of Maki for under 7 bucks. If maki plates are over 10 bucks, we can't afford it this time around.
bhopal21 Posted July 8, 2008 #24 Share Posted July 8, 2008 Let's just say, I would wait until it was an adults only visit to go to Ambrosia. It is a tad expensive and pretty fancy. Mike:)
Rare patrice1 Posted July 10, 2008 #25 Share Posted July 10, 2008 Kid-friendly would be Kyushu on Truman. ;)
