Is your Fuel Surcharge going up in smoke?

I've been seeing Carnival Destiny about once a week now ..for the last nine months or so

and yes she's a smokey one, but this morning it was just awful!

Smoke like this is simply un-burnt or partially-burnt fuel particles

usually due to nothing more than diesel injectors in need of simple maintenance!

So this is where your fuel surcharge is going.

Up is smoke!

Interesting - - Very interesting.

I'm sailing on her in 18 days! No fuel charge for me though.

We should have our fuel charge refunded as OBC.

So basically I will be drinking it away. Cheers!:D (lifts her plastic souviner cup to sip that wonderful DOD and chokes on all that smoke) Quick someone get me another!!;)

Don just wanted to say Hi since I noticed you are basically my neighbor. I'm in Ocoee.

Wow, haven't seen a smoker like that in years! - Call a mechanic!
That's what I thought,too!

Sometime around Sept.I think..Destiny is to be taken off the P.Rico/Barbados/P.Rico loop

to be replaced by VICTORY, but not until November sometime.

Hopefully, Destiny will be taking some time on dry-dock or something

so the engineers can address this smoke problem.

It's been getting worse and worse over the past few months

trust me on this one!

Hopefully word will get back to Carnival Engineering?

isn't that from the incinerator......?

I very much doubt it.

I live here on the island, and I watch cruise ships come in all the time.

I take ship-pics with regularity for my website at

http://www.angelfire.com/wizard2/cncisland/bigships/btown.html

in case you wonder why I might do so.

This means I get to see Destiny almost every week, on Wednesdays.

If today's (and all the other days too?) smoke is effluent from an onboard incinerator

then Carnival Destiny specifically...has one hell of a waste disposal problem that other ships don't have!

There is a direct relationship between smoke out of the funnels(both sides)

and forward motion. Personal observation!

Destiny's two propellers are powered by a pair of 63,400 Kilowatt diesel-electric generators

- I'm thinking these are the source of the stuff messing up my blue skies!

Or Wednesday is garbage day on the Destiny. Remember she doesn't have an at sea day.
