Going on the Glory on 6/28. I hear there is Wi-Fi avaliable on the ship for the PC's. My question is: Is the Wi-Fi free to passengers with their own PC's, is there a charge, is it thoughout the ship?

The WiFi is not free. In order to use the WiFi, you have to register with Carnival ($3.95) to get an account to log in. Then you either buy a package of minutes or pay by the minute (75 cents a minute).

There are several hot spots on the ships, not just near the Internet cafe.

Although some people have posted that you can't get wireless in your room, that's not true everywhere. We were in suite 7263 and had no problem at all getting a wireless signal when we were on Glory in '06. But as the previous poster said, you have to pay to register and then you can purchase packages or pay per minute.

The price is the same, whether you use your laptop or the ship's computers. The advantage to taking your laptop is that you may be able to use it in your cabin. I was in 7275 on the Glory, and there was a good signal there. Also, with your own laptop, you can save minutes by composing your emails offline, connecting, sending, and disconnecting.

I agree, along with the fact that the ship's computers do not have software such as Microsoft Office so that files or pictures can be attached. You can only e-mail.

Most of my cruises have included a stop at Cozumel. Sometimes I don't bring a computer with me and instead use the computers at the Museum of Cozumel. You can get an hour of internet there for $2.

In February I had a Blackberry with me and inadvertently left it on while at sea. I have not determined yet whether that is a costly mistake yet as far as data charges are concerned.
