marathonmike Posted May 26, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2008 Hello, I am currently training for the High School State Champioships of Cross Country running. I will be going on the Rhapsody of the Seas next month and my schedule requires that I run at least 10 miles a day. Has anyone been on the ship RECENTLY who can tell me if the running track goes the entire way around or if it is obstruced?
denamo Posted May 26, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 26, 2008 The track does go all the way around. You can make the distance longer by running totally to the back by the rock climbing wall. It is tight back there, however. Otherwise, you will see the top of the glassed in area of the Solarium.
hydrorama Posted May 26, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 26, 2008 Hey Mike, The track on board is not like a typical track as it is not really an oval. The track will tend to weave around the deck chairs so there are not really any long straight aways. But the biggest obstacle will be other people using the track. You will have walkers and joggers and people using the chairs so the track can get congested. Maintaining a consistent pace might be difficult but getting the mileage in shouldn't be a problem. 10 miles on board is a lotta laps though! I would suggest starting out very early (b4 daylight) or if possible consider going ashore. Some of my best runs were off the ship. Could be one of the highlights of your trip. cb at sea Posted May 26, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 26, 2008 Very early morning will be your best bet for unobstructed track time--once the sun comes up, folks will be in your way.
